Just bumping my old thread...
I was thinking about getting a spin bike or trainer for my existing bike this Fall but am having second thoughts.
I'm now looking at a used Bowflex Treadclimber TC20 or the Bowflex MaxTrainer for some extra cardio. Does anyone have experience with either of them?

I just do DDP Yoga (No weights involved, you don't need them) and during football season, I walk about 7 to 11000 steps per night depending on how practice is going.

I don't know about the bowflex. I prefer spin bikes because they're simple, easy to adjust tension for a high intensity workout. And they're relatively cheap. I assume a tread climber would be about 2-3k used. And it takes up a lot of space. And needs power. And ultimately you're going to require a variety for your workouts or you will just get good at "treadclimbing" and your workouts will suffer. I'd get a curved treadmill for joint preservation and variety, and a cheap spin bike for intensity workouts. There's not much that can go wrong with a curved treadmill or a spin bike.

I have the MaxTrainer M3 and it has two different user settings and it counts ~ calories burned based on time and difficulty setting. I think it has 8 settings. I'm not sure how many features you're looking for, the M3 is relatively simple and lacks 'bells & whistles', but it will absolutely kick your butt. I have a love/hate relationship with that thing in a good way. It's like an elliptical with a stair climber. It got me in great shape for hiking season.

The used TC20's around here seem to be going for 800-1000. I think it has different programmed workouts. I'll look into the curved treadmills. Haven't given up totally on the idea of a spin bike so will keep them in mind as well.

Thanks! If I got the MaxTrainer it would be the M3 because it’s the least expensive and I don’t need all the options. Good to hear that it’s giving a good workout. I had a love/hate relationship with my rower but in the end got rid of it because it turned more to hate and it was hurting my back too. I was at 880,000 meters and thought about sticking it out to 1,000,000 to get my free T-shirt but decided against because of the back issues I was starting to have towards the end of my time with it. Will keep an eye open for any used MaxTrainer’s since a new one is a bit more than I wanted to spend at the moment. Have you had any issues with it?

I haven't had any issues with it. It has an electrical component but that's just for the display & clock etc. It's not the quietest machine, but it runs really smoothly. I got the padded mat to put under it as it's on the top floor of the house and it definitely helped with noise. It doesn't take up much space either. I definitely recommend it.

For cardio, I do Insanity Max :30 workouts. No equipment necessary. Its high impact but there is a modifier if you have issues with your knees. But it is crazy cardio. I'm in the best shape of my life right now after doing this 60 day program twice.
In fact, I do all my workouts via Beachbody programs. There's some good strength workouts. Minimal equipment (dumbbells, pull up bar) required. Recently finished P90X3
Costs only $100/year for the online library. Its like Netflix. Worth every penny. Much cheaper than a gym membership

I have a Precor elliptical which died a while back. I assume it's the electronics/computer. Is there someone in the city which does repairs, preferably house calls as the thing is a bit of a beast to move?

The curved treadmill is supposed to last for 150k miles. There's no motor or anything like that. If you want to run faster, just run faster. And it's similar to an elliptical in that it cushions impact by having your foot hit on the uphill and then glide down. It totally reinvented my running.

Decided to go with a spin bike for cardio. I'm currently looking at this one online but can't find much info on it. It has magnetic resistance instead of friction which I think is probably better. Does anyone have this bike or know if the specs look decent?

Personally I'd get a used road bike and (magnetic)wind trainer over a single use exercise bike. There are usually lots of "used" wind trainers on kijiji.

Ordered an Airdyne instead of the spin bike. It should be here in a few days.

I've never understood airdynes. What are they all about? You get upper body work as well?
