[Rumour] Rogers selling Monday night NHL games to Amazon?

If the NHL was offering an in-house steaming package, they would still sell TV rights for traditional broadcasts. They just wouldn't sell them for billions since the viewing isn't exclusive. Shouldn't matter as the streaming revenue would offset the lower TV revenue.

TV rights are progressing from the cable bubble to the streaming service bubble and sports teams are going to be able to rake it in for quite awhile longer than most had anticipated.

Is Monday Night Hockey even a draw? I'm sure I've watched it before but not because it is MNH but because the Flames were playing. Is the broadcast special or different in any way?

Lol exactly.

Outside of Flames matchups on a Monday, I can count on one hand the random mid-season Monday night game's that I've had any interest in watching. Maybe Prime does something with it that moves the needle, but it's kind of like polishing a turd.

Good for Prime I guess but it doesn't really change anything for me or I'm guessing many viewers who likely weren't watching those games anyway. Maybe I'm in the minority but I really don't care about the broadcast as long as the game shows up. Usually I'm watching on PVR and skipping through anything that isn't gameplay anyway.

The press release does say they've planned to introduce their own production and broadcast crew. I tend to agree that it doesn't really matter what channel the game is on, the fact it's on means I'll watch, but nice production makes the experience more enjoyable.

Different panel but yeah, I can't say I've ever heard of anyone tuning in just for a panel. I sure as hell aren't
