Default Virus scanning, spyware...Macs?

Are there any free applications out there to scan and delete viruses and spyware and the likes that infect Macs? Or is it just not a concern at all?

On another note, is there a need to do any sort of defraging on a Mac? If so, are there some good free applications for this?

No real need to defrag a Mac file system. I'd go into the details about why, but to summarize it: It's just plain better then the Windows side (not exactly to Apple's credit though).

I don't particularly care about virus's on my Mac. As long as you pay attention to what is asking for administrator access, you should be fine.

There is ClamXav for viruses -- it doesn't have all the features of commercial virus scanners, but it is the only free one I found...

I haven't found a free scanner for spyware/adaware, but MacScan is reasonably priced

I don't know if anti-virus/anti-spyware is a must on Macs (yet), but I'd rather be safe than sorry

You don't need any spyware or virus scanners. Just pay attention to what is asking for admin passwords, keep your firewall on etc, etc.....

There is no real defraging needed. It's always good to repair your disk permissions with Disk Utility after an update or deleting a large amount of files.
