Maybe that was our all-star #8 Petr Buzek.

Jersey is not going to take the Flames lightly so Calgary will have to keep the intensity at a high level.

I think Monahan and Sven will continue to impress but this one could go either way

For the picture:

Brendan Morrison #8 of the Calgary Flames is stopped by Johan Hedberg #1 of the New Jersey Devils on the last shot of a shootout to win the game for the Devils in a hockey game at the Prudential Center on November 24, 2010 in Newark, New Jersey.

Monahan takes over the scoring lead for good. Not just the rookie scoring lead.

So you are saying?
Flames - Baertschi with 2 & Monahan with 1
and
Devils - Mark Fayne with 1

Anyway, this should be a good matchup for us. 4-3 Flames. Pretty much like the games before.
Thanks fixed!

This is going to come down to the goalies. If Brodeur has a good game, the Devils will win. If he is shakier than MacDonald, Calgary has a chance.

This will be the stiffest test for the Flames so far - I will continue my pessimistic predictions - Devils win 5-2

In continuing my tradition this year.

6-2 Devils, the young Flames can't keep up their level of intensity.

Great. Good thing Feaster went all the way to Russia to lure Ramo here as a backup. $2.5 mil to ride the bench, great work if you can get it.

I tought this year was all about letting the young guys play and develop and finding a new #1 goalie.

I think we all agree that Joey MacDonald is not a #1 goalie in this league. Now Ramo is caught up in a catch-22 - Heartley won't play Ramo because the team has more confidence in MacDonald, but the team won't get confidence in Ramo unless he gets to play.

Yes, it is only game 5, but why wait? Are they really thinking "playoffs 2014"? And what happens if they get on a bad streak that starts with MacDonald losing and then Ramo losing and they lose 3-5 games in a row (not inconceivable) - where is the confidence then?

Just because the Devils can go in a very defensive shell, clogging up the neutral zone and waiting for mistakes. The Flames have not faced a team like that yet.

The only time we see the goaltenders in action is during games. The coaches have a lot more viewing time to draw from to make their decisions. It could be that they are still working on a few things with Ramo to help him re-adjust to NA play.

With a position like goaltending where confidence plays a huge role I don't see any reason to rush Ramo into game action only to see him get lit up and have his confidence take a dive. If MacDonald is still getting 80% of the starts around game 20, then I'll start to be concerned.

If Edmonton can beat the Devils, then so can the Flames.

First live attendance at regular season game for me at the Dome in 13/14. Hope they keep playing well. And I hope the Dome heroin beer continues to allow me to see nifty colours.

Thank you HD for reminding me of the many, many, many extra points we left on the table in 10/11 (5 OTL, 7 SOL). Needed 4 more points for the playoffs...

The Devils used to play a shutdown-style of game. However, I've seen a bunch of their games this year and they have not been successful in keeping the puck out of their net. I think the Flames could have this.

Related, that projected fourth line of Jackman-Colborne-McGrattan doesn't inspire a lot of confidence.

Why are the Flames and Stamps games both in Calgary, and both start at the exact same time tonight? Bad scheduling, NHL! (The CFL schedule was out first)
