UConn recently hired a part-time volunteer to be a full time goalie coach; not sure when, but roughly the Nov-Jan time frame. Might be coincidence, but Sergeev seems to have turned his season around at a similar time.

UConn plays one more regular season game, then it's the Hockey East tournament where they are seeded eighth. We may learn fairly soon if Sergeev decides to turn pro.

Notre Dame lost to Michigan in the first game of their best-of-3 first round playoff matchup on Friday. They play again on Saturday. If Michigan wins again, Notre Dame's season will be over and the Jake Boltmann signing watch will begin.

It will be pandemonium when all 32 GMs plus Atlanta and Houston fight to get Boltmann to sign with them.

I do hope the Flames get another prospect based in this part of the country.

With the win, the Huskies finish the regular season with a 14-18-2 overall record. UConn will host the opening round of the Hockey East Playoffs, March 13 against Vermont.

Boltmann can probably play pro at some level, perhaps the ECHL. Do the Flames offer him an AHL "show me" deal with the idea of sending him to Rapid City?

Of note: On Sunday, Chicago signed Boltmann's Notre Dame teammate, Landon Slaggert, their 2020 third round pick, to an entry level deal.

Why bother. He's pretty terrible.

UConn wins first game of the Hockey East playoffs against Vermont, 4-1. Sergeev stops 26 of 27.

Both UConn and UMass play in the Hockey East Quarterfinals on Saturday.

UConn plays the top team in the nation, Boston College and UMass plays Providence. Both teams will be the underdog, and both will need to win in order to have a chance of making the NCAA Tournament.

Suniev is, from what I understand, already physically mature. I suppose he'll spend another year in college, but who knows. I could see him on the Wranglers next year dependent on what they do with their forward group.

I think they'll probably have a conversation after UMass finishes up, but I suspect Suniev goes back for a sophomore season. They're going to have Bell, Honzek and Brzustewicz as first-year pros with the Wranglers next season; I'm not sure if he'd get enough reps for it to be the ideal place for him.

With Suniev's physical attributes and skillset, he could dominate the Hockey East conference.
