Celebrated Square Root Day
What does everyone think of Colbert so far? I'm honestly a little surprised at his nervousness and inability to bounce off the guests in interviews. I thought that would be his strong point, but it looks like removing the overbearing jokiness of playing a character in interviews actually removed a lot of comfort for him.
I notice lots of places in interviews where he would totally dominate with an awesome response on the Colbert Report where he now responds with a pretty weak "oh yeah?" or "hahaha" and you can almost see the guest kind of thinking "what the hell, I'm used to Colbert lighting it up in interviews and bouncing off everything".

Colbert needs a reboot. He is too talented to be misfiring like this.
First thing I would do is replace his band. I find them off-putting.
The bit he does making proclamations with the big fur hat is a bit too much like Conan's In The Year 2000 .
He should stick to social and political commentary as much as possible. He can be a great interviewer.

These guys had a great set at Coachella. I'm not a blues rock fan, but they kill.

Colbert is re-booting after only 8 months:

That Conan in Korea show had me laughing out loud, damn that guy can be funny.
On the other hand I have grown to despise Jimmy Fallon, his fake laughing, the constant kiddie bits, he is worse than Jay Leno.

At the very least I think that he should have changed the "new" character's name to Stefan from Stephen (much like Steve Urkel and Stefan Urquelle.)

Conan had the same problem - he could not do old recurring bits from his NBC days like In The Year 2000 , and Masturbating Bear .
