Its a static route problem therough an AT&T router in Dallas Texas.

Both Telus and Shaw are down. Most likely both had static routes mapped to that IP via AT&T.

If you bombard them with the IP of the wow login server 206.16.23.89
then they should be more inclined to fix it. My buddy just said Shaw is now saying is an Canada Backbone issue.

HAHAHA 24/7 * 365 tech support indeed.

You should call shaw and demand that support tech be fired.

And that gets you up to 3.0.2

Than another patch to 3.0.3

Damn, so I guess there will be no playing for me tonight if there are multiple patches to download. At least I have to install onto my laptop AND desktop...

Its a routing issue from Shaw/Telus, they both die on the same hop. Its likely a static IP route that for whatever reason is now broke.

The version of WoW that was mass-duplicated onto DVDs was 3.0. In the time since the duplication started but before the game hit store shelves, Blizzard released 3.0.2 and 3.0.3. If you've been playing WoW at all in the last few weeks, you should have already had those versions installed, but since the on-disc version overwrites them, they need to be re-installed.

At least you didn't need to re-download the patches (unless you manually deleted them).

It only took me about 15 minutes to install the expansion, upgrade my account, and re-install the two latest patches.

kk good, I think I am going to leave work early today to go pick it up.

What class/race/faction server is everyone here?

I have a:

70 Dwarf Priest
70 NE Warrior
60 NE Huntard
59 NE Drood
59 Draeni Shammy
and an army of bank alts. I rocked the refer-a-friend program to get the last 3 chars to the level they are at in 1.5 days played since I am pretty sure my Fiancee would leave me if I played enough to level all of them individually.

All on Dethecus.

How many hours a week do you (anyone in this thread) play wow?

How long does it take to move up one level?

I play WoW, on average, probably about 20 hours per week. My wife is a much more casual player and plays for maybe 5 hours per week, if that.

Time between levels varies; it gets longer the higher up you go. Getting from level 1 to level 2 takes about 5 minute. Getting from level 69 to level 70 (the previous maximum before today) took about 8 hours. On my current character, it took me about 8 days (192 hours) to get from level 1 to level 70.

I only play about 5-8 these days, mainly when I have time, and just for fun. Used to raid a bit more which was a lot of time committment though.

Anyway, I have a 70 Druid and Mage, a 55 Deathknight (heh), 49 Shammy and several lowbies on Bronzebeard. Various low level horde on Duskwood.

I'm between 5-10 hours a week normally. Might go up a bit over the next couple weeks though

Going from level 1 to 10 will take about an hour and half for a dedicated first timer. It's possible to do it in 45 min though if you know where you are going.

10-30 will start at a level per hour and will probably max out around 2.5 hours per level.

30-60 you'll be able to do a level every 2 to 4 hours.

After 60, I'm not really sure since they recently reduced the amount of xp needed, but I'm guessing 4-5 hours of playtime per level.

It's possible to go ALOT faster then that, I was giving a casual, first character timeline. Playing not much more then 8-12 hours a week, my first character back in 2004 took about 9 months to hit 60. My next character took less then 3 months with the same amount of playtime.

BTW, most of the servers I checked out today were completly unplayable. /sigh

I thought that you couldn't automatically choose to be a death knight but had to finish some quests and get to a certain level?

Did Blizzard nix this?

No you still need to have an existing character of at least level 55 to be able to create a Death knight (who starts at level 55)

Well, since Resolute 14 has since said he is playing, I would assume his connection is fine.

Apparently it is not 100% fixed yet and a lot of people are still having issues.
