To be honest, I don't really see any obvious can't-miss prospects on this list like we have had in previous years, but there's still a lot of solid talent here. Was considering Andersson, but went with Jankowski based on his excellent year in the AHL.
Based almost entirely on apprehension due to the Flames awful history at the position, I just can't vote for Parsons yet. I've seen this movie before too many times.

I was thinking
1. Jankowski
2. Parsons
3. Anderson
4. Valimaki
5. Fox
6. Kylington
7. Foo
8. Mangiapane
I got to about there and realized "Holy ****, are were ever defense heavy for prospects. With our team also being defense heavy on graduated players it makes you wonder if Brad isn't thinking of a prospect trade to try and get a more high end forward in the ranks, even beyond Foo.

We're out of picks pretty much but I wouldn't be against a strong defense prospect and an NHL forward being traded for a stronger NHL forward, if at all possible.
Flames trade: 3rd line forward + strong defense prospect
Get back: strong second line forward, who can possibly play first line

Probably 5 defensemen (maybe 6), and 2 goalies in the top 10.
I doubt there's another team in the league that tilted towards the backend.

it's crazy that it's been 5 years since we drafted Jankowski. Time really flies ...
really happy that the Flames have been patient with him, too. I believe those later high picks really helped take the pressure off him, and his development has been great. It might have taken 5 years, but now the Flames get an NHL-ready forward with size and a good 200 ft game. Very excited to see what he can do next season.
It's crazy that Jankowskis NHL career is only starting while the 1st overalls NHL career could already be over.

As much as people laugh about how silly and spirited the debates have been, I've actually enjoyed following his progression as a prospect.
It's been a really neat story and if he actually translates to a top six forward you better believe experts, GM's, scouts and fans will be talking about this pick for years to come and trying to find the next Jankowski to pick in each draft.

Yeah, that's why I wonder if we could really get something more than most fans thing you could get for a prospect in a trade.

Any interest in adding Lazar to the list? I know he has been in the NHL, but he is new to the team and he still needs to earn his spot in the lineup.
I would be curious to see where people think he slots in.

Feaster told us. "Ten years from now, he's going to be seen as the best player in this draft."
We're half way there.
He might not be the best player from the draft, but he might end up having a better career than the first overall pick from that draft (and the 4th).

Going with Jankowski here. Fantastic first year of pro hockey and I fully expect him to make the team and make an impact. Long time coming, but he's finally here.

This was a tough choice for me, but I'm going with the guy who has had a slow burn in his development path, but has progressed at every step of the way.
Mark Jankowski.
However, I did seriously consider Parsons, Gillies, Valimaki, Andersson, and Foo. However, Jankowski's NHL readiness put him over the top for me.

He's played 180 NHL games. The general rule for prospects is they've graduated once they've played 65.

I think Jankowski's ceiling is that of a #1 center. Maybe sort of a '1b' type. I think his floor right now is that of a #3 center that excels in all areas of the ice. For me, he is an easy pick as the #1 prospect.
Next round will start to get difficult off the get-go.

I think Jankowski is on track to be Backlund as a Ceiling and Stajan as his floor. Parsons I need a year of pro hockey on before I put him above our defense core of prospects and I don't know if I put him above Gilles yet with the uncertainty being so high. But then I think if I would trade Paraons for Gilles and I think that would be a no so Parsons is higher than Gilles.
So Jankowski high ceiling, high floor and has showed progression is our number 1 prospect.
