I haven't felt this excited about the Flames in a long while. And it's not just Bennett either, it's everything put together. The new management team, the prospect depth, the current young Flames, etc. It finally feels like we are headed in the right direction.

I love that in the last two years we've been the last pick of the clear top tier of players and both times took the logical pick. No need to ever second guess "should have taken the other guy".

Bennett's grit and competitiveness will serve us well, especially playoff time.

I believe so, apparently there is some sort of draft thingy going on at the moment. Can't say I've seen much about it though.

I love that he's physical and has an edge to his game. He looks like he could become the total package. Pretty insane that 2 decades later after Nieuwy, we might finally have a true #1C !

So, is Bennett now our top prospect? Or does that title go to Gaudreau?

Going to be interesting to see the results when Bingo does the prospect voting polls.

Whatever the case, very exciting to have so many legitimately good ones to choose from.

God, I'm still in awe that the Flames were able to pick him up. I can't SLEEP!

Is Monahan still a prospect because if so he's definitely our top prospect at the moment. Monahan's the first prospect to have a rookie season like that since Iginla.

I was classifying Monahan as "Graduated".

IMO, he's an NHLer now and not a prospect anymore.

That's a difficult one because I'm really excited about Gaudreau, but Bennett has more elements to his game. So I would put Bennett #1.

It's nice being in a position where we can't even second guess this pick. The Sabre and Oiler fans can fret if they missed out on a better forward. The Canuck fans can worry about picking Virtanen too early. But Calgary was probably the only team in the first round who had it easy…we just had to pick whoever was left over of the Top 4. Kind of like last year with Monahan, it was a little out of our hands, so there's nothing to regret.

So late to the party but wow was I ever happy when the flames landed Sam Bennett.

My favourite Flames draft pick ever, no hyperbole.

Skill, speed, tenacity... Just everything you want in a player.

Now hope they stay committed to hm as a centre, because he will be a good one, and let him progress at his own pace. No forced return to junior or staying up with the big club due to pressure, let him play where he fits.

Happy night, sure lots of the rest of you feel the same way!

Both Bennett and Poirier led their teams in scoring this season while averaging over 2 PIM per game.

I know that "T" word is overused, so let's use another one of Burke's words: Belligerence

I would agree with you . After 25 games he's is no longer a rookie and can not attend prospect the prospect tournament. Sven is not really a prospect having played 51 games . Monahan has played 75.
