Pretty good year with management hiring for the Flames:
1) Hire Burke
2) Fired Feaster/Weisbrod (I didn't mind Feaster, but Burke is better)
3) Hired Treliving
4) Hired Pascall/Conroy

Pretty solid imo.

Word is he'll be assisting Ron Sutter in checking up on any of the Flames draftees not currently playing in NHL or AHL. (Juniors, overseas etc)

I love that Conny got the promotion. Huge part of Gaudreau being signed.

Correction. He was THE ARCHITECT of the Olympic team.

Hopefully (because if he does have to leave to move up that would imply that the current folk are working out) but it's not a forgone conclusion. Treliving might not work out, Burke might retire (and Treliving takes his spot), or Treliving might get a President level position somewhere else.

Treliving post presser interview:
http://downloads.flames.nhl.com/podc...ivingjune6.mp3

wants to send Conroy into the field. Job is about making right player decisions and you make that by being around the players. Wants Conroy watching a lot of NHL and AHL games.
Pascall will be involved in overseeing the Adriondack Flames and the entire develoment process
Holditch will be responsible for the administrative side

Not to take away from his accomplishments, but I genuinely believe a monkey (which is probably why Kevin Lowe works with Hockey Canada) could have assembled a gold medal team with the talent that Canada has to offer.

Yep. It's just THAT easy. That's why we win every single Olympics right?

with the bolded, is that actually what Treliving said? or just Roger being Roger?

seems like too forward of a statement by an NHL exec

Well they have won 3 of the last 4. And in 2006 Bertuzzi was on the team, so obviously the talent pool wasn't as deep as it is in 2014.

And I meant a gold medal contender, I didn't mean they'll win every time.

Yeah seriously Roger, can we get an end quote to these type of tweets please? I'd like to know the exact quote and not have to guess who said what.

Bertuzzi was a good player in the 2005-2006 season. It was his final year as a Canuck, and that's when he started declining as a star player.

Incorrect, most people would have looked at the top 50 scorers around the league and picked the Canadians that way. Aka, the EA's NHL games route.

Besides, monkeys aren't native to Canada and would have no business being involved. You're just being silly.

Couple things I could find on Troy Crowder.

Article about his hockey career from 2011 which misspells his name in the headline.
http://njdevilslegends.blogspot.tw/2...y-crowder.html

He's also the creator of this doohickey for your skates that'll help you skate better.

The exact quote from Treliving:

Roger: How comfortable are you with the current Calgary Flames National Hockey League one way contract roster, because I know where it sits at. You know where it sits at. Are you comfortable with it? Or is that something might evolve over the next 6 weeks/8 weeks?

Treliving: Well, its going to evolve. We need to get better. We need to do somethings flexibility wise. I am comfortable where we are at, but we need to get better. We have some exciting things moving forward but reality is we are where we are in picking 4th. We are prepared for the draft. As far as our roster we need to improve it.

Sounds like we won't be moving anywhere in the draft. I think another poster said this, but I don't think Florida liked what we offered for the 1st OA, so we are just going to stay put. And that is just fine by me.

Exactly. This isn't a draft where there's a Sidney Crosby or Connor McDavid to be had at the #1 spot. Ekblad is good, but just because he's the only defenceman is not the only reason to move up. The top 4 are pretty equal IMO, but I like Reinhart and Bennett over Draisaitl.

Ekblad won't get past Edmonton for sure, but I think he goes 1st overall. But I'd be ecstatic if we end up with either of the two Sam's.
