Will be interesting to see how they construct the roster for the Wildcard game. They can name 25 players and if they win, a different 25 for the ALDS.
So with Sanchez and Happ having no chance of pitching in the wildcard game, that opens two extra spots. Dickey/Thole in case the game goes long?
Pompey for speed?
Goins?

It's only one game, assuming they get a new 25 for Texas.
Maybe they could lead off with the best 3 non-starter hitters, and then sub in the regulars for defence.
Montero leads off the top of the first as the CF and gets pinch-run or defensively substituted by Pillar.
(I realize Montero is suspended, but it's the only name I know)

What. Why would you use subs in the 1st inning

Since the roster is so large, you could use 3 pinch hitters.
Just an idle thought.

Looks like they would add Dickey/Thole then, easily enough room.
If they make the ALDS Happ and Sanchez take those two spots.

I think Liriano has to start it. Pitching very well lately, pitched great last week against the Os and the Os struggle against Lefties. Bit of a no brainer actually for me.
Stroman can, and should, be available out of the bullpen. Hopefully you get a good 5, or 6 innings out of Liriano and Stroman can bridge to the pen. Os have hit Stroman hard so starting him scares me.

Liriano is my choice as well.
Jays - Rangers series would be amazing to watch all over again.

I have no faith in Stroman, this year he is like Dickey. Either pitches really good or gives up like 6 runs in the first 3 innings....

They're not putting the season on the line with liriano.
I think they go with Estrada.

Yeah, but there are 3 slots still open and like others have said it's just one game.
If the Jays need more than 7 pitchers they're probably not playing another game after the wild card.

i don't know.. these games can get vary cagey with pitching matchups and bullpen games. If it goes extras both teams could easily reach 7 pitchers. Red Sox/Jays used 19 pitchers in a 9 inning game a few weeks ago.

On Sept 29 Stroman against the O's
7 innings, 9 hits, 4 runs, 4 earned runs, 2 walks, 3 strike outs
On Sept 28 Liriano against the O's
6.1 innings, 6 hits, 0 runs, 0 earned runs, 1 walk, 10 strike outs
I know who I would prefer the Jays start.
Plus on June 19th Stroman started against the O's
3.2 innings, 10 hits, 7 runs, 7 earned runs, 0 walks, 1 strike out

Jays SPs last 30 days, ERA/K%
Liriano 1.46/26.5%
Happ 2.97/14.6%
Stroman 3.19/17.8%
Sanchez 3.64/22%
Estrada 3.98/25%
Pretty glaringly impressive numbers from Liriano.
Couple that with how bad the O's are against lefties and the fact Liriano just shut them down over 6 innings with 10 K's less than a week ago and I think it's clear - he's your better chance for a win just numbers and probability wise.

Therefore, Gibby will announce Stroman as the starter.

So my father in law and I just kicked around the idea of going, tickets were less than we thought, but we have decided to pass....I think.
Either way, I will not be missing one second of this game, either at it, or at a local establishment. Sorry wife, kids, daddy will be out drinking beer and watching the Jays crush some OriLOLes

Seems like a no brainer to go with Liriano, but the damn thing with sports is, stats are just history.
Stroman is just as likely to be due for a good game against the Orioles as the O's are likely to be due to figure out Liriano.
I'd still go with Liriano but it wouldn't surprise me if the O's got to him.
Ultimately, if the batters don't hit, the Jays are toast.
I'm not expecting either Liriano or Stroman to limit the O's to less than 3 runs over 6 innings.
