Odd things you think of when you're alone at work: I just looked over the Flames scoring history, and since the move from Atlanta only one Flame wearing #11 has had a 50+ point season (Bob MacMillan in '80-81, with 63). Most Flames who have worn #11 have scored in the 25-30 point/season range and have had injury problems. Maybe Backs should switch to another number to get back on track.

I hope Backlund breaks out this year as well. Hopefully he is training a lot this summer and takes the #2 or #3 centre spot. Baertschi on his line (if that's what ends up happening) will be fun to watch.

One of many who is too boring; thinks that there should be rules regarding grammar in custom user titles, and also makes moderators wonder if there is a charachter limit here. I mean come on- you would think that would be a limitation in the software

Maybe he can buy Iginla a gold watch or something and snag #12?
Watched the kid here in sweden, has the talent and the tools but he doesnt seen to get "it". Was called out by the coach, kind of always saying that Its not him but the coaches fault etc. Had à bit of fallout before he came iver.
Hoping he has matured and will work hard to succeed
I heard him interviewed on the Fan and he repeatedly placed all of the blame for his poor season on himself. It seems to me that he has matured in that regard at least.
At that price, this is a great signing by Feaster. Let's hope being surrounded by a more offensively talented group this season helps him have a break-out year.

Yea, heard that too. Said all the right things so theres hope, still thought he was a bit reserved. Then again, it was almost midnight in Sweden during the interview b
the 2009 gold medal game was on tsn the other night and while backlund wasn't a force in that game it was a great reminder of the potential that he had at that time.
There was many a time he had the puck on a string and could take it end to end with easy, while more or less running the PP from the side boards. Commentators and Darryl Sutter all being excited about the potential of him coming over from europe to develop in north america.
If he had been able to get the cross crease pass going on the powerplay that game may have swung the other way.
Moral of the story, i hope backlund really takes this opportunity to show that potential this year, i just wish it was a given that they would be playing.
