I got mine at Ticketmaster. Try connecting through the Ween web-site?

Who is going to Modest Mouse Friday night?

Just saw this video for the lovely song Little Motel (heartbreakingly sad - seems to make most people weep):

Saw Modest Mouse a few years back at Mac Hall, so I've already gotten my fix. Might look into checking out Caribou at the Warehouse coming up here.

Review of the Oct 31st Modest Mouse show in Spokane:

http://www.spokesmanreview.com/blogs/

Modest Mouse kicked off its national tour in Spokane on Halloween night, which also happens to be Johnny Marr's birthday.

That's a recipe for an incredible evening at Spokane's Big Easy. Add to that a stupefying support set from Philadelphia quintet Man Man, and the show was virtually flawless - except that the vocal mix during Modest Mouse was so poor you could hardly hear Isaac Brock's lisp when he talked to the crowd between songs.

Brock and the boys were on point though. Having fresh legs from not being road weary was a nice treat for Spokane's audience, the downside is the soundman was still working out the bugs during the show.

Besides the sound, Modest Mouse put on a great show. They played a similar set of songs from previous tours this year, complete with the always killin' it "Doin' The Cockroach," and the "Spitting Venom/I Came As A Rat" encore medley (but, sadly, not "Dramamine").

I didn't see it coming, but I was excited to witness Modest Mouse play "Parting of the Sensory," my favorite song on the new album next to "March Into the Sea" (which Mouse still isn't playing live yet, probably because it's murder on Brock's voice).

Set lists:

They played "Doin' the Cockroach"?? Dang, that's my fave Modest Mouse song - I was so disappointed when they didn't play it the time I saw them.

Should be a good show tonite for you folks that are going. Have a few beers for me, will ya?

Ween coming to Flames Central on Nov 16th.

Review of TOR show on Oct 26th:

http://www.chartattack.com/DAMN/2007/10/2902.cfm

Gene 'n' Dean pleased the varied crowd of hippies, teen misfits and thirtysomething weirdoes with a sampling of hits from throughout their career, including "Voodoo Lady," "Piss Up A Rope," "Exactly Where I'm At," "The Argus" and even "Push Th' Little Daisies." The only tune I caught from their new La Cucaracha album was the smooth jazz gag, "Your Party." I was a little relieved that they didn't lean too heavily on their new material because it's not so great. From the back of the room I felt like I might as well have been listening to a mix CD. The real musical highlights were Dean's guitar solos. In case you haven't noticed, Dean Ween is one of the great guitar virtuosos of our time. His controlled psychedelic riffs alone were almost worth the price of admission.

So true. I saw Ween their last time through here in Calgary and although I was very drunk and the show (no openers) stretched on close to 3 hours I remember being consistently impressed by Dean's face-melters. The guy can seriously rip it up.

Ween is awesome live. They were promoting 'Quebec' last time around and scarcely touched material from that record, instead touching on songs from all around their vast repretoire as well as the odd cover, including a bang-on version of Zep's "All My Love."

Hit up Flames Central for these guys if you can, it will be worth it.

I've heard nothing but good things about Man Man. We were thinking about skipping the opening acts to grab some extra brewskies but I don't think so now. It's too bad I don't get off work until 7, but I may try to skip out an hour early.

Herald review of Modest Mouse:

Calgary Sun review:

http://calsun.canoe.ca/Showbiz/2007/...27670-sun.html

Man Man was the most bizarre act I ever seen - they need to be experienced live. Of course, I thought Modest Mouse was great. The sound ws a bit muddy, and you could not understand Isaac when he was speaking. We did not know why they needed two drummers. Adding Johny Marr to the band, is like the New England Patriots adding Randy Moss - an embarassment of riches.

I'm really excited, had to share with someone(s). Just ordered tickets to see Ministry and Meshuggah in May at the House of Blues in Chicago. This is Ministry's last US tour ever, and the House of Blues show in Chicago will be the last stop in the US tour. Bittersweet really, my first time seeing Ministry will be my last.

The only thing I'm disappointed about is that there will be no Paul Raven. Tony Campos is filling in, though, and he's an excellent bassist and huge Ministry fan. It was well worth the price of the ticket. Ministry almost always has some random people wander on stage at some point, and I think since this will be their last ever US show, it's going to be simply amazing.
