Goalies do seem off but like Grant said, I rather take the human element out which can cause more issues.

So I traded a 79 goalie for a 78 goalie and got a 1st-rounder too? I like!

That's really it - as you start to go through and try to fix perceived issues - where do you stop. The more you do it the more you move away from an objective ratings package grounded in stats.
And OVR are not a great indicator of which player will do better - it is a weighted calcluation of the individual ratings. So you could have two players - one with slightly better key attributes (say scoring, passinng and puck control) and another with slightly worst attributes but he's huge so he has a way better ST rating that gives him a higher OVR.
What player is more valuable?

yeah goalie ranks are bad...how Bobrovsky can be rated as best goalie and Lundqvist 19th? Im all for keeping human element out but Price is better than 5th.

Forwards and dmen arent too bad.

Do we have any position data for the players yet? as i recall, the last ratings package had that in it as well.

Sure. But that's different. And exactly why using a statistical based package is key - to remove the personal preference.
Would I want Price over Bob? Yes. Because in the long-run I think he's the better goalie.
But Bob was better last year and the rating reflects that.

Yeah the way we will handle that is by uploading a new roster file so people can review in the sim and send in their position additions. That's a later step though.

Haha.. Tom Kostopolous is in there rated 65 OV. He has played 3 straight years in the AHL. He has the same rated as Kevin Fiala

It is what it is, not complaining but Varlamov rated 80th overall is not good enough to be a NHL goaieis a tough pill to swallow.

Don't get me wrong but as I was ezpected bad because of a poor season, just dissapointed my year is already over. Too bad he wasn't a RFA or i would be doing the happy dance

I'm cool with it, just had to let everyone laugh at it. Jack Campbell and his 2 career NHL game is offiacallymy best goalie, yikes

please don't read my post as if i have a issue with his rating

I'll have to work FA and such and treat it like an injury. All part of being a GM

Geez guys give it up. you are gms building a team from chemistry not ratings. Yes a better goalie is necessary but if you don't have it build up your defence. Just give it up. It's done and it's not gonna change
