Icon41 Torres suspended rest of round 2

Per TSN, The Score

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=423358

San Jose Sharks forward Raffi Torres has been suspended for the remainder of the second round for his illegal check to the head on Jarret Stoll of the Los Angeles Kings in Game 1 on Tuesday.
Torres attended an in-person hearing at the NHL offices on Thursday.
Stoll did not return to the game for the third period after being hit in the head by Torres late in the second period and Kings head coach Darryl Sutter said they "weren't resting" him.

Repeat offender. Not surprised. He's done a lot to try to turn his reputation this season, but walks like a duck, talks like a duck...

He was playing so well too. Dummy. He just does it over and over and over.

Does he not understand the rules?

Does he not care about the rules?

Does he think the rules are wrong and he's going to play his way damnitalltohell?

If Gryba is two, then 3-6 for Torres seems reasonable.

how is this suspension even legal? with a length dependent on other things

in theory I like it but the PA is going to have a field day with it

Horrible decision imo. That's not even penalty worthy. He made the shoulder principle point, and, YES, because the guy had his head down he caught his head too. Shanny is totally out of his league here and this is all proving to be too much for him to handle properly.

Erm, It's legal because they say the check was primarily to the head. Also, injury and previous history have both been determing factors for suspension length for years. Not sure what makes you think the PA could expect to have a "field day" with it. The only defence it has is to challenge the assertion that the head was the principal point of contact.

no if it was 6 games I would think it was fine

it's the range, dependent on other things (i.e the series going 4-7 games)

Sounds about right. Even if it was a legal hit Torres should be suspended for being a dbag.

is this ever going to learn? Torres could have been a decent hockey player if he play smart.

Stoll is out for one or more games so I think it is just fair that he banished too for the amount of time Stoll will be out or more. I'll say the remaining of the 2nd round is fair. Hopefully he'll learn..................NAH!!

No question, justified. Certainly if Stoll is out for the series as well.
