He can re-sign with any team of his choosing this summer. Only a playoff team would trade for him a rental. So for him worst case, he plays on a playoff team as a rental and then signs with Tampa in the offseason.

Speaking of Hanifin preferring TB, I know salary wise his salary and Point's salary aren't the same but player wise, both are 27 and Point is a center born in Calgary.
Point has a NMC.
If possible would this be a fair trade for both teams?

Not a chance. Point is a core player for the Lightning.

GOAT!

Here are the last three scouting reports on Noah Hanifin (copy/pasted from CapFriendly.com, but are from these guys: https://twitter.com/prohockeygroup).
(Ps. I like that someone called him a "workhorse" in one of the reports, since I called him that the other day too. It's the little things that make our day, sometimes (lol).)
Quote:
Report #6
Feb. 19, 2024 (Updated Feb. 29, 2024)
Contract: $29,700,000 over 6 years (Cap hit: $4,950,000)
Position scouted: Left Defense
Age when scouted: 27
Rating: 89
Compared Against: P1
("Professional report: overall rating of 89 when weighted against equal counterparts at the following talent level: First Pair")
Projection: First Pair
Trending: Under NHL Contract
- Not much changes with his role in Calgary.
- '2-way D' with a transitional element. Provides better than secondary offense. Outlets pucks and joins as an extra layer. Has the legs to lead the rush on his own.
- Closes effectively, on opponents, defensively.
- Through his first 56GP - 9G - 21A - 107 shots on goal - 45 hits - 81 shot blocks - has scored 7 goals and 16 assists at even strength.
- Expiring contract. $4.95M AAV - Contract has an 8 team 'no trade'.

- A workhorse in Calgary.
- Deployed in all situations.
- Averages over 23:00 TOI.
- Elite skater. Quick to space. Has the ability, and skill, to lead the rush out of his zone when a lane opens up to escape pressure. Active off the puck. Joins the rush.
- In his first 49GP - 8G-17A (+10)
- Seven even strength goals. 13 even strength assists.
- Expiring contract. $4.95M AAV - includes '8 team no trade list'
- 2-way 'D' - better than secondary offense - ability to be slot into first pairing

So Hanifin is getting worse as the season goes along?
Panic and sell! Stupid Conroy should have traded him at scouting report 1.

Posted this in the other trade thread - If TB doesn't have the draft capital, any thoughts on a return of Crozier & one of - Roelens, Finley, or Usau?
Crozier's a RHD CGY boy, the others are big centres.
Just spit ballin'...
