Default Yahoo Defenseman Rankings very different than NHL.com's take

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/positio...12129-nhl.html

Giordano top ten
Brodie must misses cracking top 20

Brodie ahead of OEL, but behind Jbo. Strange list.

Yeah I feel like OEL is way too low - the guy has led his team in scoring the past two seasons, and is decent in his own zone too. On a team with more talent I think he would be a lot more heralded.

I love Brodie - but I think the Flames win that trade if its made 1 for 1.

I don't know exactly where I would rank him, but I think Justin Faulk is criminally under-rated. Feels like he belongs in the top 20 somewhere.

At first glance, I think Letang is high and Weber is low.

OEL should replace Vlasic IMO.

Isn't Yahoo mostly for fantasy?

The list is basically the same order as a "projected points" list would be.

I don't think it's for fantasy otherwise Burns would be #2 and guys like Barrie and Ghostbear would be in the top 25. A guy like MEV would not even be on the list.

I wouldn't have Chara top 25, fantasy or otherwise. The J-Bo ranking is also weird no matter if you look at it from a fantasy perspective or not. You can make an argument for the rest of the guys being where they are but those two stick out to me.

Letang right now is a better defenseman than Weber.

How many teams would take Jay Bouwmeester over Ryan Suter?

Thinking the same thing but OEL being so low baffles me.

Great point. We've seen some ridiculous lists in the past. This list is bad, but there's been worse. Much worse.

A lot of the bad lists tend to be the result of the East Coast bias.
