Wasn't Giordano supposed to be the final cut from the 2014 Olympics squad? Now J-Bo over him?

Yes.

Brodie is flat-out a better player than Bouwmeester by any measure. Looks like the old-boys-been-there-before unwritten rule is alive and well with Canadian international hockey.

What a load of rubbish.

Bouwmeester sucked too much to play for Canada while he was a Flame, but now that he's not a Flame, and a number of years older (and worse), he gets chosen ahead of the significantly better Giordano and Brodie?

I already wasn't cheering for Canada (Team North America all the way), but this hammers that home.

Bouwmeester has been there, done that, I guess it's the conservative move.

Babcock wouldn't play him in the Olympics, why would he choose him for the World Cup?

Asinine to have Jbo over Gio, Brodie or Hamilton

The fewer Flames at the World Cup the better. While I am actually starting to look forward to this tournmanet, I'm still very leary of Flames players participating and getting hurt.

I might be wrong but is he now the only returning member from the last World Cup team?

In all fairness, Hamilton is already playing for the U23 team?

No, he isn't. Because Chiarelli.

Bouwmeester? Are you kidding me? He's good, but he's no Brodie or Giordano.

It would be my strong preference that no Flames play in this thing, so fine with Brodie and Gio not being named.

I think Giordano and Brodie deserve to go over him in that order but less risk of injury by not going so it works out.

Does speak to how both guys are viewed by at least the selection committee when ranked against other candidates. Like someone mentioned though, Subban isn't even there so the choices are pretty suspect anyway.
