Default Let's Do Something About Sportsnet

Hey all,

We've painfully sat through the first few weeks of Sportsnet NHL coverage. Although they made changes since last year, many of us have complained to friends, family, and on these boards about the bush league coverage. This complaining comes naturally to us, so let's complain to one place where maybe, just maybe, we can have our voices heard.

Luckily, they invite comments (http://www.sportsnet.ca/contact-us/). Listed are the Sportsnet TV contact info, including their phone (1-888-451-6363) and email address (feedback@sportsnet.rogers.com).

CP is a large community, which I'd argue has single handedly kept Johnny Hockey in the TSN 1v1 competition. Why don't we take this manpower to do something productive. If nothing else, we can feel satisfied that we are flooding the Sportsnet team, putting pressure on them and letting them know that we are not happy.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but the only thing that really gets me up in arms is the 2006-era HD cameras/transmitters. Just looks so terrible.

I think Sportsnet is doing much better than last year and much better than I expected. Other than the 1st game of the season where there were way too many commentators filling the game with chatter, they've been decent.

The only time I have an issue with them (so far) is when I have to listen to Quinn and Remenda... Have fun with those two Oilers fans...

It's been much better than I expected so far. In fact my main criticism is too much Kypreos and MacLean which was inevitable but otherwise it's been pretty decent outside of the confusion of the channels games will be aired.

I've enjoyed the extra access to hockey. Would like better AV quality and better panelists, but it's heading in the right direction. Not a lot of complaints from me.

Just asking, is there a way to watch the game on a computer? I know CBC streamed their games.

I've really enjoyed the Sportsnet broadcast. I've been getting a better selection of games to watch than ever before. Leafs fans are bitter that the entire country isn't forced to watch their ####ty team on a Saturday night, and also people are complaining about the panel. I hardly ever watch the panel so I can't really comment on that, but I'd give Sportsnet a thumbs up so far.

Personally I've enjoyed Sportsnet coverage for the most part. My biggest gripe is Healy, and how ignorant and uninformed his dialogue is.

My second biggest gripe is someone needs to fire the guy who messes up the screens... This is only Flames games I've seen. I wonder what other games have been messed up. Haha

The Saturday night set up is fantastic. It feels like watching the nfl on Sunday.

They spent money on getting the good CBC broadcast teams.

Outside of the flames home opener glitches I am very satisfied with with the production.

Only kypryos and McLean need to be reigned in.

The only thing I can't stand is Healy. Other than that I think they're doing a fine job so far.

And apparently Reto Berra is still our backup... just said by Cox.

I think people need to worry about things that actually matter in this world as opposed to whining about what you consider to be an appropriate level of broadcast quality. I haven't noticed anything worth getting up in arms about to this point. After 2 painful seasons of Rob Kerr I don't think any flames fan should be upset with what we are getting now.

Imagine if they spent .01% of the amount they bid for the 12 year contract on fact checkers / proof readers.

In game, their coverage has been great. Mike Johnson is my favourite guy to listen to, so I'm jacked he's a part of it.

But they have to do something about their mistakes. After years of TSN and tight NHIC broadcasts, we are accustomed to very very few mistakes. When I watched TSN hockey, literally any NFL broadcast or Sportsnet Jays coverage I am always impressed at their depth of correct knowledge they are able to whip off the cuff. Sportsnet hockey coverage has been laughable on a nightly basis. There's always a typo, a wrong stat or complete mis-pronunciations every game.

Healy and Cox are just two of the guys who drive me insane. Seems like every time I tune into a game there's at least one guy who's unbearable to listen to. Is Healy constantly bashing the Flames... on Flames broadcasts really something someone at Sportsnet isn't catching? Shut him up, or get him off the air. I'm here to watch the Flames, I don't want to hear how the game I just watched shouldn't have been won.

Tonight's game was rough. Romanuk sounded rusty, the fact checking on Gaudreau was terrible, and then the back-up goalie gaffe by Cox in the postgame completed the trifecta.

It's not the be and and end all, but there's lots of room for improvement.
