Hawks trade Panarin,T. Motte,+6th to CBJ for Saad, A. Forsberg, + 5th
Hawks certainly making a splash today
Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC
Wow. I am also hearing there is a Panarin/Saad deal in the works.
Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC
I think there are other pieces...but Panarin is going to CLB and Saad is going back to CHI
Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun
Motte and Forsberg and a pick swap also part of the Saad-Panarin trade
Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun
Replying to @PierreVLeBrun
Jackets get Chicago's sixth-round pick this weekend and Hawks get 5th-rounder in 2018; that's the pick swap in the deal
Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun
So full deal: Panarin, Motte and 6th Rd pick this year to Columbus for Saad, Forsberg and 5th Rd pick 2018

There has to be more to it than that. Saad is a way better player.

That would be crazy from a Hawks perspective.
Panarin has crazy chemistry with kane.
Is this strictly a cap saving move? I thought Saad was making 5+/year.

Crazy. Panarin likely has similar trade value to Johnny Gaudreau so it'll be interesting to see the what the return is...not that we will trade him.
EDIT: I guess 2 years until UFA may lower his value a bit.

Panarin is signed for 6x2, saad is signed for 6x4.
Panarin is due 4.2 million dollars on July 1st.

Panarin had like a 15% CF% rel. This seems kind of silly.

Maybe the Blackhawks and Bulls want to take on the Bears in the battle for weirdest management moves in Chicago.

So far I've seen both "Saad is waaay better than Panarin!" and "Panarin is waaay better than Saad!"
I guess that means it's an even trade
