Arizona Coyotes are parting ways with long time captain Shane Doan
Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun
The Arizona Coyotes are parting ways with long time captain Shane Doan. The club informed him over the weekend. (con't)
Doan hasn't decided on his playing future yet. There are other teams I believe who have some interest in him. (con't)

Just the reaction around here alone would almost make it worth it if the Flames signed him.
It would be sheer meltdown time.

What an overrated player thanks to when Wayne was he was coaching the Yotes always pumping his tires. Average player with average leadership (from what I can tell but obviously I don't have access to the dressing room).

We just picked up Mike Smith, why not Doan? We need a right winger and a goalie, now is the time to plunder the state of Arizona.
And I want to be clear, I am being 1000% sarcastic right now, but I acknowledge that knowing the Flames' track record and having a former Arizona executive in charge who like to work the phones that they're more than likely going to kick Doan's tires.

Wonder if he retires now rather than play somewhere else.

I just find it sadly ironic that after eons of needing an Elite Centre for our #1 RW we need an Elite #1 RW for our Centres.
Oh Calgary Flames....why cant I quit you?!?

He can go to the Kings to replace Iginla after he signs with the Flames.

Imagine being told by your GM, who was 7 years old when you joined the organization, that they are cutting ties.

I believe in the Jays.
If the 'Yotes won't resign him the only team I could see maybe signing him would be the Jets... and that's only if someone in their F.O. catches a hideous nostalgia bug.

So is Doan retiring, or still looking to play elsewhere?

Don't think they are that big on nostalgia. They were pretty reluctant to go with the old school Jets logos, and even the name was a last minute thing if I am not mistaken. Think they originally wanted to go Manitoba Polar Bears or something along those lines.
