Universal Remote App
Was talking to a buddy last night and he was saying another guy showed him an app that turns your phone into a universal remote control and you can move the buttons around and what-not to suit you style the best. Best of all, apparently it was totally free!
I've done a lot of searching on the App Store and Google and can't find anything that is free as they seem to all require an IR device or hub to purchase separately so am just wondering if anyone knows of this magical app he was referring to?
Doesn't seem possible unless everything was Bluetooth capable, of which only my TV would be and I'd really love to put all remotes away and control the AV Receiver, Blu-Ray player, shaw box, etc with my phone.

Maybe Peel:

However, unless you want to buy an IR blaster, you'll need a phone that has a built-in IR port. Many of the popular Android phones, like the HTC Ones, LG G series and Galaxys do have it built-in.

I use Peel as well. I understand there are better apps however my remote controlling needs are few and straightforward and it handles them efficiently with ease!

Ah, so as an iPhone user I'm S.O.L. I guess for the free usability. Damn.
So if I'm going to be paying for an IR blaster or whatever, Peel is still the way to go? Or are there better ones out there?
Thanks for the tips!

To be honest, if you're going to pay for something I'd rather go with a Harmony remote. It's still hard to beat the tactile feel of a regular remote.

I purchased this one a few months ago (I believe it was $70 off) http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/.../10320958.aspx Absolutely life changing, plus it comes with the ability to use your phone as the remote via WiFi.

I use Unified Remote to control my computer (hooked up to my tv) and it's pretty rad.
