Firefox 4
Beta is out.
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/beta/
Runs noticeably faster on my MBP 13" than 3.6.6.
Better canvas and CSS3 support, transitions, hardware acceleration, local indexeddb, and plenty more goodies.

Ever since 3.6 came out I have found FireFox to be complete crap. I hope 4 brings it back to being sexy FF again.

I just found it constantly hanging - it is definitely slower. I found that it crashed more once the "themed" version came out (im sure it was 3.6). I've noticed it on my personal machine and the ones @ work aswell. I don't remember the old FF giving me asmuch grief as the new version has.

3.6.6 is incredibly slow. What an abomination of a browser
...but it's still better than EI

I still find Firefox fast, but it is very crashy on my machine lately, usually at least once a day.
And even more annoying it'll all of a sudden decide to start pausing.. the whole browser will just hang for 2-3 seconds every 30 seconds or so, and I have to shut the browser down completely and restart it to get it to go away.
I tried switching to Chrome but the memory usage was way worse, after a day's work and normal usage I was over 1.3GB of RAM for Chrome!
So I'm hoping Firefox 4 can be better.

I downloaded it and ran it, but when I go to Help - about it doesn't say I'm running 4.0
Still says 3.6.3?

Yeah, Firefox isn't very stable for me either right now... seems to crash when the memory use gets around a GB, which it inevitably does unless you restart it.
Firefox was awesome somewhere around 2.0... those were the days.

FF crashes on my iMac at work, at least once a day and it runs slowly, but it is speedy and stable on my home PC, which runs Vista, go figure.

How does it handle YouTube and other flash sites?
On my MBP, Firefox 3.6.6 is really freaking brutal at dealing with it.

GOAT!

My 3.6.6 seems fine. Very fast, no hangs or crashes. I keep the addons to a bare minimum though, and I did some monkeying around in the about:config settings.

My latest version of Firefox(not 4) runs great too. Once in a while it lags or crashes.
Its fast too. Faster than Chrome or Opera IMO.

I haven't had any performance issues with 3.6.6. Not as fast as Safari but it never crashes or gets laggy.

I run 3.6.6 at home and in the office and haven't had any issues with it. At work, I routinely have 10+ tabs open without a problem. I do run 6gb of ram though.
I really liked Chrome as well, but had some rendering issues with a couple of management consoles.

Can't be, Chrome with its incognito tabs are for pr0n
I usually have 4 windows open and 4-8 tabs in each, so maybe more than normal. That and the flash player gets very laggy too after a while, I have to either restart my browser, or I load chrome and play the same flash video there and it's smooth.

Flash is brutal on the Mac period. It has to do with Apple not letting Adobe get access to the hardware to do graphics acceleration. It all gets done in software right now, but apparently this will change in the next couple of months.
