Diablo III - New patch 2.1 Coming Aug 26

More and more people getting invites to Beta as time goes on. This thing is in it's polishing stages I'm guessing and ensuring servers will be up to par. How long do Blizzard games take from Beta to release on average?

Yeah, but it's Blizzard. I still think it comes out this year, but since we haven't heard anything yet and usually release dates are announced more than 3+ months in advance I don't think we see it until summer. I'm hoping early summer like April so I can shut down my life for the summer, but I doubt it.

All speculation and opinion of course.

Not surprised - makes sense Blizzard would want to wait for approval in Korea. Though I wouldn't have minded some more examination into why the Korean approvals board is having so much trouble with Diablo 3. WoW and countless other games have had auction house systems in them for years.

The game will be out when it's out. I just hope it isn't released in the middle of summer.

Edit: ahh, finally I found a blog post that actually defined the stupid acroyms used. RMAH - Real Money Auction House. Now it makes total sense.

Blizzard has provided an update about Diablo III on consoles. Community manager Micah Whipple discussed the project on Twitter, writing "Yup. Josh Mosqueira is lead designer for the Diablo console project."

Mosqueira himself recently tweeted that Blizzard is hiring designers for the console version, writing "Are you a game designer? Do you love Diablo? What about Diablo on console? If so we're looking for you..."

Compared to what it is now, yes, but D2 wasn't complex.

Like FFS, you auto heal when there are pots on the ground. WTF kind of noob sh** is that?

How do you get the invite? Is it necessary to be registered at Battlenet?

Personally I love the switch away from using potions to heal (or being as dependant on them). I absolutely LOATHE that mechanic in any game that uses it. Wanna win a fight, just stand there and hold right click while pressing the potion hot key. Awesome. Super fun. Is this what you want?

Using potions seems like a tired, boring way to add "challenge" into a game. Better to focus on the actual combat mechanics and make them more involving - add incentive to prevent damage instead of healing through it.

Pots on the ground are so you don't have to stop playing and heal up before continuing. They also allow the fighting to keep going longer without needing some sort of external influence (chugging a potion). Seems to me they are more of a convienience feature - you have to use skills and tactics to win, not merely chug a pot every time your health hits 50%.

A best buy in the US had a Diablo 3 standup complete with countdown timer that said February 8th or something early for a midnight launch. Hard to think that's the date but we'll see.
