But is this because of the value of goaltenders as prospects, or the value they hold at the entry draft? There is a big difference, in the same sense that while defensemen tend to drop lower in the entry draft than forwards, they are often the most valuable prospects and players on their team. Draft position doesn't really matter after the fact, I don't think.

Valimaki for me.

Guy has the talent to be a top 10 pick this year, very comparable game to Juolevi.

Andersson and Parsons the "next two" for me at this point, with Andersson slightly ahead because he has proven it at the AHL level.

Darren Haynes @DarrenWHaynes
I asked Spencer Foo if there's any player that has had a similar career path to what he hopes is in store for him and he said Jake Guentzel.
Yes please.

I don't really do goalies in prospect rankings. It is tough to think of the last goalie that I thought was highly touted in junior that came into the NHL and was a starter very quickly and sustained a long career.

So I went with Mr Andersson.

Because draft position is the result of thousands of hours of observation and analysis by dozens of professional scouts, all dedicated to discerning which prospects have the greatest chances of becoming impact NHL players.

And which is still not perfect. If I think Parsons is our second best prospect I really couldn't care less where he was drafted.

Foo:

NCAA Yr 1: Age 20 - 25 points
NCAA Yr 2: Age 21 - 25 points
NCAA Yr 3: Age 22 - 62 points

Guentzel:

NCAA Yr 1: Age 19 - 34 points
NCAA Yr 2: Age 20 - 39 points
NCAA Yr 3: Age 21 - 46 points
AHL Yr 1: Age 22 - 42 points in 33 games

If any Flames prospect has the potential to be Guentzel - it's probably Jankowski.

NCAA Yr 1: Age 18 - 18 points
NCAA Yr 2: Age 19 - 25 points
NCAA Yr 3: Age 20 - 27 points
NCAA Yr 4: Age 21 - 40 points
AHL Yr 1: Age 22 - 56 points in 64 games

I vot s Andersson. However, I think Kylington would be a reasonable choice as well. I will vote for him next round (or as soon as Andersson is no longer an option.) As others have suggested, goalies are so unpredictable. I think it's too early to rank Parsons in the top three.

Tough choice for me between Andersson, Fox, Parsons, Gillies, and Valimaki.

I finally settled on Andersson.

Back in February, Darren Haynes ranked them (minus guys added after the season, obviously) as Janko, Andersson and Parsons.

I imagine the Flames 2 highest paid and arguably most valuable players, never drafted Giordano and 4th rder Gaudreau, would acquiesce with your assertion.

Was between Parsons and Valimaki for me. Went with Parsons as I think he has that star upside and seems to be universally highly regarded by people in the industry

I agree with this - goalies are unpredictable and rarely pan out as you think. I leaned to Kylington as he's got more of an offensive edge and put up a couple solid years as a young guy in the AHL. I still have some questions regarding Rasmus' conditioning and commitment to be considered our #2 prospect overall.

I gave my choice. People criticized my justification for that choice. Then I defended that justification. So who was pouring water on who?
