It's a fun concept for those of us who grew up watching 90s hockey.

I watched it as well. But I honestly think iginla would actually be more effective out of doan/jagr/iginla assuming marleau is no longer concerning flames as an option

I in no way think Jagr would be a good fit, I just want to see it happen.

I would buy a #68 jersey right away. Even if it's the ugly black C jersey with flags.

I think Jagr would fit very well in Calgary. I love speed as much as the next guy but there is something to be said about developing our four big young kids (Monahan/Tkachuk/Bennett/Jankowski) playing with a hall of famer who has total mastery over the cycle game. We have the roster top to bottom. to shelter him (Jagr) defensively and he is still a puck possession and even strength scoring monster.

Also gonna toss Parenteau out as the only other guy I am interested in. That guy is the Lee Stempniak of guys not named Lee Stempniak.

You are missing Dennis Wideman on the list.

Honestly, I don't see any team offering contracts to Doan or Iginla as they might think they are past their prime. Maybe someone will offer them PTO which highly unlikely they'll accept. Dennis Wideman, some teams might shy away from him but eventually someone will sign him for a short term ie: 1 or 2 years at the most on a bargain price. It might not happen until probably before the training camp starts. Or he might not get a contract offer at all and just get the PTO.
Markov and Vanek might be asking too much or some say Markov was asking for a longer term which the Habs are not willing to offer him. Teams might shy away from Tomas Vanek because he hasn't been that good in the past few seasons. Maybe if he lowers his demand to less than $2M a season someone will bite. Johnny Oduya and Drew Stafford eventually will be sign by someone but less money they are asking for. Stafford is actually a good RWers. Oduya might go back to Chicago for a huge discount.

I'd be willing to take a gamble on Yak. It would absolutely be a reclamation project. There's no no guarantee it would work out, but if it did... I'd love to watch him play against the Oilers.

stafford is a guy i'd consider rolling the dice on if its a low risk contract...

seems like BT might be done with any major roster moves however.

For $1M a season for 1 year, I would. Yak is still young and maybe he'll get his mojo back(from junior years) and starts getting his confidence. If it works great, if it doesn't then it's fine too. Problem is him and agent still probably think they can still get a better term and money than $1M for 1 year or just decide it is better to play the KHL. Not sure there are going to be NHL team who will sign him for good money. Maybe Colorado or yes Florida might gamble on him.

Rather give the prospects a shot.

Unless it's Jagr or Iginla, I'd rather give prospects a chance.

It doesn´t matter which team it is, if Yakupov signs on a cheap deal he won´t turn his career around. I doubt he´d do this because he could make much more cake in Russia, but if you could sign him and let him play a year in the minors to get his mojo and confidence back up, I´d do it. No pressure, tell him to find his game in the minors and see if a year later that helps him bring his NHL game up to where it could and should be. Let´s see how badly he wants to play in the nhl.

Yakupov's Fleury celebration after tying a game in the regular season is one of the most cringe-worthy moments in hockey history. And he is a historically bad 1st overall. No thanks.

Jagr's strength at defending the puck and playing along the boards is something I think the Flames lack as well

I think Jagr's main criteria for his next contract will be the proximity of the beach. I get the impression the man loves his hotter climates.

Kovalchuk isn't exactly a FA, but does anybody else see MTL making a pitch to NJD for Kovalchuk after losing Radulov?

I still think that the Flames should sign Vanek. Sue me.

I'm sure someone is writing up a statement of claim right now.
