The one deal I would love to see Treliving announce tomorrow is a one or two year deal for Radim Vrbata for about $2.5MM AAV. He makes the most sense at this point for the Flames.
And clearly Tre knows the player well from his days in Phoenix.

The good thing about them is that they would likely be willing to sign 1 year deals.

So the Flames could get some scoring depth and veteran experience for this year, while still taking advantage of next year's much stronger/younger free agency.

Yeah the people saying things like "I'd be okay with signing ________ if he took $xxMM and n years." are in for disappointment on July 1. You don't get to go bargain shopping on July 1, you overpay to fill a desperate need on July 1.

I don't feel the Flames have any desperate needs so Treliving would be best off to wait for the dust to settle and pick up a bargain later on.

Personally I'd be happy to get Iginla on board again but that's another debate for another thread. But you don't go after him until later in the summer if he's still available. Last thing you want to do is pay aging Iggy (or Doan for that matter) too much money for too long a time.

But I'm definitely looking forward to seeing other teams blow their brains out!
