One year sub $2 million deal. Good if true because the Flames aren't in a position to sign guys like Versteeg to multi-year deals for over $2 million.

I would rather have 7 and a half Versteeg's, than one Mcdavid

1 year at $1.75M. Really wonder what the other teams he was talking to were offering. I suggested when it was said he was talking to a dozen teams that they all probably wanted him at last year's salary. With today's news that wouldn't surprise me in the least.

Maybe we can get a few vets signing 1 year deals for a chance to win.

Given the window free agents have to talk to other teams I don't believe there was a 3 year offer anywhere. Maybe 2 at less money and he decided to be here for 1 year.

Meh, team needs to get bigger. Kind of pointless to have him on the right point on a PP when he can't shoot the puck. But if there's no one else better on the free agency market, I guess another year at $1.75mil is like whatever.

The Flames now have 13 NHL forwards signed (counting RFAs), not counting Jankowski, Foo or Hathaway.

I was expecting a 2-3, $3 million AAV contract, and he'd probably be worth it at that.

I like this move! Guy is a warrior. One year deal leaves him motivated, keeps the team from having to commit to an aging player if the wheels fall off. Good price too!

And to think it was only a few short months ago where it was a strong possibility he wouldn't be re-signed

If true I'm a huge fan of this signing. Versteeg fits really well on the team and having 4 players in the lineup next year (if Foo can make the team) that the greasers lost to the Flames is icing on the cake

...Did you watch the Flames last year?
Versteeg led the team in powerplay goals.
