Looks good for Montreal right now but could be ugly 2-3 years from now if Sergachev lives up to his billing.
Also doesn't fill their need at C - should help the powerplay though.

Hard to call a winner right now...both players have MASSIVE upside
Drouin is a proven NHLer so Montreal gets the nod for now IMO

Drouin has to be protected
Sergachev does not
I wonder who Tampa chooses to protect now

Good deal for both teams. Although Sergachev is probably 3-5 years from his peak whereas Drouin should contribute big time right away. He(Drouin) was their best player in last years playoffs. I would say that Tampa probably just could not fit him in from either a cap or protection standpoint. He will make one of the centres look a lot better on the scoresheet. Imagine Bennett with a winger like that.

Powerplay Quarterback

Namestikov will be protected now so Vegas miss out on a tidy little player perhaps.
Overall, I think it's a fair trade, though if both hit their respective ceilings, Tampa will edge the deal.
Interesting to see what Drouin signs for.

Drouin played centre his final year in Halifax. I wonder if the Habs will try him there.

Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun
Condition on the picks in Tampa-Montreal trade is that if Sergachev plays 40 games for Bolts next season, there are no picks exchanged.
Renaud Lavoie @renlavoietva
If Mikhail Sergachev is playing 40 games next season, the conditional picks involved in that trade are going to be voided.

That's pretty good on both parts. I'm excited to see more pieces moving in the next week.

Damn, Stevie Y with another great move despite the numerous problems in managing a great team.
Don't know how I'd feel as a Habs fan losing Sergachev for only Drouin.

Good trade for both teams IMO. I like Sergachev and think if he lives up to the billing this trade is a steal for the Lightning. I can see Druin doing well in Montreal but he's a smaller, skilled winger but it seems like the Habs always have these types of guys and lack the bigger skilled forwards up the middle.

I could see galchenyuk for a similarly aged centre, since Drouin shores up the wing.

What in tarnations? How did BT miss this? I guess it would mess up the protected list, eh?

We don't have any prospects even close to Serachev.

The Habs get a small and skilled winger...just what they were lacking. LOL.
That Montreal defense is going to look bad in a couple years when their best young defender is Beaulieu and maybe Juulsen.

We don't have a 9th overall pick d-man that is highly coveted.
Andersson, Fox, Hickey, Kylington are all great but they just aren't as highly valued as somebody like Sergachev.
I am sure the ask for Tampa from the Flames would have been Tkachuk - no thanks.

Yeah, I'm sure a quantity vs quality argument was made (eggs in more basket and all that).
I'm sick of TBL doing well. Hate them.
