Awesome, hope he does great there! Well, they're in our division, so maybe not overly-great... maybe just pretty good.

So John Stevens and Lowry so far. That's a solid start.
However, aren't both those guys not known for their offensive systems? Seems like it'll be the same problems in L.A. unless they make a different hire.

Congratulations Dave!
Funny to see him succeeding Sutter. Remember when Sutts had him behind the bench as a player?

Dave Lowry is the only guy they have hired so far with any experience in his role.
Rookie GM, Rookie Head Coach.
Good for the rest of the teams in the Pacific I think.

I hope that the Royals can get an adequate replacement for Phillips' sake. Small guys need good coaches and Lowry definitely was getting the most out of him.

Hard not to like the guy as a person, but I've always been a bit sour on him because of his association with the Dark Age of Brent Sutter.

As others have around here, I've followed his career for awhile now. Wish him all the best.

Will he be an assistant on the bench, or will he be...

Brent is the only head coach in Calgary Flames history to coach the team to three straight 90 point seasons. If you consider those days dark I assume you consider most of the Flames history in Calgary as dark days. Some of you fans really need to take a good look at the ineptitude of this franchise over it's history in Calgary to realize those weren't dark days at all and more of an issue with the team's best player not buying in and even at that Brent still managed to squeeze winning seasons out of the team. Dave Lowry was happy to leave that situation as like Brent he also butted heads with the captain.

What? That isn't correct.
That said, Flames had like 7 straight years of 90+ points under different coaches, ending with Sutter era

What I said was correct. Obviously if you go through the history of the Flames you would see that the list of coaches that coached the team to three or more seasons is short so not a huge feat in the big picture but he still maintained a 90 point pace with the worst rosters of those 7 seasons with core players on the back halves of their careers. The point is that they weren't dark days and fan expectations were simply far to high for a roster on the decline.

1 Don't have access to sites that would have the stats, but Flames under Terry Crisp must have gone over 90 three straight.
2. Sutter's 3 years over 90 points were part of 7 seasons in a row (or more?), so it is a bit misleading.... Though agree 100% that it was hardly the dark days of the franchise.
Could be wrong on #1 I guess...
