Default Matthew Frickin' Tkachuk!

Might be premature but we need a feel good thread in here.

Kid plays fearless, is a pest, gets under the opponents skin, goes to the tough areas and has undeniable skill to top it off. What a great pickup at 6th overall!

He brings an element to the team we have not had in some time. And his 10th game looks to be his coming out party, with the confidence of the Flames management now under his belt. Going to be a valuable part of the team for many years.

Also a cool mention that we've now had 3 rookies in the past 4 years break into the league at 18/19 following their draft. And I think each was earned. That's some pretty great drafting, paying some immediate dividends and helping this rebuild along nicely.

I still can't believe that as of this morning people still wanted to send him down. Now with theVersteeg injury, which doesn't look good, clearly the right call.

He's gonna look awesome in the red, white, and gold for hopefully the next twenty years. So excited to have him.

I like this player.

3 goals, 3 assists, 6 points in 10 gp. He also brings other elements to the table like you have mentioned - Being a pest, goes to tough areas, has grit. Thank god the Canucks passed on him.

Oh, and an obligatory shoutout to Jim Benning! It would not have been possible without you.

I think the best plays from him tonight were in the final minute with the net empty.

Doesn't panic, doesn't try to force anything for the hat trick, but just makes safe, simple plays to clear the zone two times.

Playing with and learning from Backlund and Frolik will be great for the kid.

Deservedly so. His play in his own zone, while rough around the edges, is overall something pretty much all our wingers can learn from, even some of the veterans.

And if Jarmo Kekalainen hadn't taken Dubois, Tkachuk would be a dirty Oiler right now.

We mite be thanking the Oilers as well. From what I've seen so far, Tkachuk is a better nhler today than Puljujarvi. That could change very easily but for now it looks that way.

What did Craig Conroy say to a poster;

"Yah, he's a dick, but he's our dick"

I think that sums it up best. He's been in the league for 10 games and is already driving opposition batty. I bet he's in the middle of about 90% of the scrums. Awesome. I was also impressed with his recognition of the great opportunity he's getting by playing with Backlund and Frolik. Showed some nice humbleness. He earned his stay.

The drafting in the last 5 years has been exceptionally good. Maybe a bit lucky too, considering Monahan, Bennett and Tkachuk could have easily been picked earlier.

LOL - Yep! That was what Conny said to myself and InCoGnEtO in Penticton after two games at the Young Stars.

I honestly believe Chucky hasn't even scratched the surface as to how much he'll start to piss opposing players off. To me he seems to be very focused on his game and overall learning. Just wait until he gets comfortable and the Flames are playing a team six or seven games in a row in round #1. He'll score big goals and have entire CITIES hating him! LOL!

And it will be great knowing he's our dick.

to be fair, those were really easy picks. Each one of those were gifted to the Flames on a silver tablet.
