No! Even if Erixon is a schmuck, he's still an improvement on several of the plebs they have playing in that organization. I hope Edmonton continues to overrate their own "depth" and stays away, as funny as it would be to see Erixon's sour puss sitting on that bench.

You have to think that this is Tom's last year trying for the NHL. His 93 NHL games are inflated by playing for some bad Columbus and Toronto teams. Don't know if he is trying to get to a certain threshold for a pension, but you would imagine after his contract is up this year that he would go home and play in Sweden rather then keep trying for the NHL min.

That's a whole lot of times on the waiver wire for Tom to hit 400... Should've stayed with the Flames Tom!

Not a single name on that list which is remotely tempting to pickup

True, and I guess he'd get that positive "got waived by Edmonton" experience. Don't want that.

Of course not. There's a reason these guys are getting waived more than a week before the start of the season.

I think getting Granlund and Wotherspoon may have provided a buffer that allowed the Flames to take the risk with their 104th pick. I don't know if they take that risk without those two second round picks acquired thanks to Tim wanting to play for Daddy's Team.

Good point. They had Kucherov on their wild card list along with Gaudreau but passed on him to take Granlund and Wotherspoon. He went shortly after.

As was the case for most Flames fans, the Erixon snub was one I took personally. I can't help it, I love it that he has floundered in the year's since he/his agent/his dad orchestrated his exodus from our organization.

Yeah, he's an interesting one. If he can increase that speed some, and add some venom, I'd take a flyer.

Figured this is a good time to bump.

Erixon, an RFA, was not qualified by the Penguins and is now a UFA.

And to confirm, no, no he did not receive a ring.

Oh, right.. yes I suppose I should also point out, he has not played a game in the NHL since March of 2015; when he was a waiver claim of the Leafs from the Hawks.

His quote at the time.

Crazy it's been 8 years since his draft, and 6 years since he wouldn't sign and had to be traded.

I know it's good to laugh at Erixon due to the way he treated the Flames, but man it just goes to show how bad the Flames drafting was. What a waste of a pick

I don't think Erixon was a bad pick at all. In fact, that was some really good scouting, as Erixon became a highly touted prospect AFTER the Flames drafted him.

He just ended up becoming an entitled brat. Also, it isn't difficult to see that favoritism is rampant in the NHL. A team will always prefer to give their own prospects a chance first as they invested a lot of time into them.

I bet had Erixon not been such a twit that year, that he would have turned out to be a better player in the Flames organization. They would have given him chance after chance, and there really wasn't much pressure at the time given that the Flames were just about to enter a rebuild as well.
