also, it was good for Friedman to come out with a mea culpa to a certain extent...it would definitely be wise to provide more context about speculation versus rumors that are based on actual back channel discussions between teams/agents...

guys like friedman or mackenzie have such generally good reputations that people will rumor with any speculation they make...better to preface those as pure speculation right off the bat.

They see Bennett as a center in our future top six forward group and a staple on the PP / PK. They have never once suggested he's a winger. If he's not in the top six right now, it's because he just finished his first full year as a center.

Trading prospects/20 year old NHLers does open up long term holes, even if they're not short term holes. If Bennett was seen just as a 3C, he would not be playing 3C because Stajan is currently a better 3C. Bennett played 3C because you have to take your lumps to reap the rewards.
