All Star Fantasy Draft 6pm. Sportsnet
With 2 Flames at this draft, things suddenly get interesting
Quote:
Format of 2015 NHL All-Star Fantasy Draft™ presented by DraftKings
A puck will be flipped to determine which team is awarded the first overall selection, with Captains Foligno and Toews, joined by their Assistant Captains, alternately drafting the 36 remaining All-Stars through 18 rounds.
Each team will be comprised of three goaltenders, six defensemen and 12 forwards. To ensure the final draft picks are not predetermined due to position requirements, each team's three goaltenders must be picked by the end of Round 10 and each team's six defensemen must be picked by the end of Round 15. One trade per team is allowed.
The six Rookies participating in the 2015 Honda NHL All-Star Skills Competition™ will be divided by the NHL into two groups of three. At the completion of the 11th Round of the 2015 NHL All-Star Fantasy Draft™ presented by DraftKings, a puck will be flipped again to determine which Captain chooses his group of Rookies.

I won't be surprised if Gaudreau is the last one picked. He is a rookie and one of the last minute replacements.

Highly doubt Gaudreau would be picked last, the league has taken notice of his skills and that's what is required for the All Star game/skills competition.
My vote for the last pick is Zemgus Girgensons.

I would imagine its him or Forsberg due to rookie status.

Yeah, Forsberg and Gaudreau have the potential to be the last two picked for sure.
Wouldn't be terrible for the kid, he has the personality to laugh it off and IIRC last time Kessel won a car so Gaudreau could probably use that.

There's no way one of the rookies get picked last, IMO.

I would want to be picked last. Do all players get paid to play in the all star game? If not the car is some nice compensation for the weekend.

I could see it as a rookie hazing kind of thing.

Yeah rookie hazing would suggest that Johnny and Filip would go last. However if they pick using flash and highlight potential then Johnny might go early!

In the last all star game (in 2012) young guys were all picked at the end. More of a nod to the vets... wouldn't be a big surprise if he's at the end.
Eberle, Segiun, Benn and Couture were all late picks. Wideman was actually in this game as well.

I am of the understanding that a group of three rookies are being picked together as a group with the 12th pick by both teams. Why all of the talk about Johnny or another rookie being picked last?

That was probably before they decided to use the rookies as injury replacements.

Never thought about that, it is an odd number of rookies that are now playing in the game.

Given how NHL players value seniority, I would bet the rookies go last.

I really wish TSN was still hosting stuff like this. Maybe Sportsnet will do a fantastic job but I doubt it. TSN always managed to actually make events like this entertaining. I hope Strombo and Kypreos don't have a big role because they are very far from being able to entertain and captivate an audience.

Is sportsnet streaming it or do I have to get off my ass and go upstairs?
