Hartley has some fantastic quotes. It's about time we had a place to store them all. Feel free to add as you see fit, both funny and insightful quotes are welcomed.
In regards to the Honda Center curse:
Quote:
"Another big game. What went on in 1940 and what went on in 2005, 2010, what can we change? Elvis is dead. The Beatles have split. There’s a big game tonight."
And of course in regards to the hype surrounding Gaudreau last season,
Quote:
"I don't want to be the porcupine in the balloon party."
On Ortio's travel: Check with NORAD. He's like tracking down Santa
On Gaudreau skating with the puck: He's just as fast with puck as he is without it. Some players look like they're skating with a curling rock
On Monahan's low maintenance personality: It's like riding a canoe on a small lake - there's no big waves with Monny
On the media's pre-season criticisms of the Flames: At the start of the year, we were getting rocks thrown at us. Now, it's a bouquet of flowers
On Hiller's last second stop against Washington: I couldn't stretch Gumby like the way he stretched on that save
On Nicklas Backstrom: He's so smart with the puck...he's like a computer on skates
On Canucks new coach, Willie Desjardins: I met Willie the other day in the big hallway. I felt it might be cheaper than the little one

"You ain't gotta like me. You're just mad 'cause I tell it how it is and you tell it how it might be."

It's funny, I've gone back to see Hartley's quotes from his time in Atlanta or Colorado, and they're so stiff and unforgiving. He was a meticulous task master in that time, and he's so much more happy-go-lucky and inspirational now, even when things aren't going well. I don't know what happened to him in Europe, but whatever it was turned him into probably the best coach in the game today, ready with a witty quip. Can't get enough of that man.

I believe he also worked for a TV broadcaster in Quebec after his NHL days. It sounds like since then he got a better appreciation for the media and realized they need something to work with.
Turn on closed captioning and translate to english in the settings. It dosent translate it properly but what it trys to translate is equally as hilarious
