Erik Johnson is having a great year, and probably has been the Avs best player so far this year. I see no issue with him being selected, he's doing it all this season from what I've seen. He's still somewhat of a liability in his own zone, but many premier defenders are.

Up north, it's nice to see RNH is going instead of Hall.

Have to think this is a statement on Hall's attitude.
I bet he gets traded at the draft

That's pretty awesome! Brodie will get his turn, but would have been nice if both d-men from the Flames were in the All-Stars this time around. Definitely excited for Gaudreau, who should be in both the Rookie and the All-Star lineup. RNH shouldn't even be there!

OH damn Subban isn't going... I feel he's going to make a big stink about it. He's one of those people that swwm like they will do something like that.

Gaudreau in an all-star game is a scary thought. His skills are elite and with no one hitting or pressuring him... I don't see how he wouldn't have a tremendous impact.

I can. Since he won't actually play in the game. Just the skills competition

Seabrook over Subban is a pretty brutal because of the voting.

You misunderstood, I'm saying when he does eventually play in one. Should be fun to watch.

Wonder what skills they put JG in? Stickhandling/passing/relays? Obviously the shootout.
Not the straight speed trials. His is not that kind of speed.

I think the teams still pick players like at school this year. Any guesses on last place? I want it to be Kessel just to see some TO heads explode.
I don't dislike RNH enough to wish it on him (if it was Hall I'd say different).

It probably depends on who the captains are. I imagine different guys feel differently about certain players.

I would imagine lots of other fan bases still don't really know too much about Johnny. It's nice that he can showcase his skills on a stage like this

Like Weitz said, it'll likely depend on the captains. But Foligno or Elias are my guesses. Defencemen and goalies have to be picked early on, right?

I think they make their actual picks behind closed doors and then just announce them, and they are allowed set numbers of G, D and F. It's all for show so they can just name anyone they want last.
Elias already said he shouldn't have been picked, so they might go with him, but I doubt it.
Gio goes first

Haven't followed Foligno much. He worthy of captainhood?
