I see the risk in playing him here (playing against men on a recently healed shoulder) but I don't really see the "huge reward" - is an 18 year old coming off surgery going to win a cup for the Flames?
What really is the harm in sending him to junior in a year where Calgary will either just barely make the POs or just miss? Why do we need to see him this year, as opposed to October?
“@DarrenWHaynes: Guesting just now on @NewsTalk770, #Flames GM Brad Treliving said Sam Bennett is "ahead of schedule" in his recovery from shoulder surgery.”

Original timeline was early/mid February, no? Gotta be soon I'd think
Original timetable was 4-6 months. Surgery was October 15th so February 15th is the 4 month mark. If he's considered ahead of the game then that should put him at the 4 month mark right? You'd expect them to be cautious so even if he is ahead of schedule you wouldn't want to activate him any earlier than the minimum recovery time.

I would argue that in 2004 if the flames brought Phaneuf up for the finals we would have won that series against the lightening. our defense was injured and tired running on empty. I really do believe we missed the boat that year on not dressing him. (among other things)

The Flames did win that series, in game 6. That is all.

as much as I'd like to beat that same dead horse, by my count we still only have one cup as a franchise.
Bennett could be a huge advantage for us down the stretch. He showed he can play in the NHL during the preseason. Addint that type of skill fresh and chomping at the bit could really be a differance maker.

According to the Pope of the NHL (Don Cherry), The Flames have two.
Great that Bennett's close. Please at least give him a conditioning stint in the AHL before sending him back to Junior.
