Iran has launched drones at Israel, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Saturday night.
It said the wave could take hours to reach Israel.
It comes after days of anticipation that Iran was preparing to attack Israel in retaliation for a strike which killed a top Iranian commander.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the country's defence systems have been deployed and that Israel's armed forces were ready.
"I established a clear principle - whoever hurts us, we hurt him. We will protect ourselves from any threat and we will do so with coolness and determination," he said.

The downing of that plane was terrible and I'm glad that some people in Iran's military were convicted and sentenced for what happened.

Do you think any Israeli military will be sentenced for shooting at aid trucks entering Gaza to deliver food, water and supplies? A Canadian was also killed in those strikes, since that seems to matter to you (any innocents killed is the important thing regardless nationality, but I digress). He's been dismissed now, let's see!

I have a feeling these drone strikes will not be very effective. If Iran really wanted war, they would give the go ahead to Hezbollah.

Confusing move by Iran. If these drones are that slow, they'll just get shot down and make Iran look impotent while giving Israel a basis to escalate attacks on Iranian assets or try to pull the US into a wider war in the middle east. Hopefully Biden is not so stupid as to let that happen, but his judgment when it comes to Israel is compromised.

Ha? How would Iran get into a war with Israel if they give to go ahead to Hezbollah? Hezbollah attacks israel daily and have had a war with israel before and it hasn't led to a war with Iran.

That update and that theory fit together pretty well.

Al Jazeera with interesting coverage at the moment, talking about supposed diplomatic back chanelling between US and Iran re avoiding serious escalation to the point of US involvement in response. At same time though some suggestion of European jets being involved in knocking these drones down. Things are evolving quickly.
