Wynn sent me an offer for 3 FREE nights, available ANY time March thru May.
-Yes, completely comped rooms at a 5 star resort.
-No, I'm not a high roller who plays $25/hand at blackjack or baccarat. I played $10-$15 craps for maybe a total of 2 or 3 hours.
-Yes, you should sign up for players' cards and present them when you gamble.

You should also know that this doesn't apply to poker. I've logged 14 hrs/day every day, but you actually have to play losing games to earn a comp. Well, I guess I get $1 or $2/hr toward my sandwich.

It's been a while since I haven't been comped but my latest trip in Feb. I will have to pay for rooms (at this point). I haven't been down for over a year so I must have fallin off the map when it came to my comps because I did have them at 4 or 5 properties.
Loving playing PaiGow to get my comps up. You don't really win lots but if yo uare smart and leave cold tables you don't really lose much either.

What about blackjack? That's all I usually play down there and can't seem to get a comp to save my life.
Are you playing $2? Any game where the house has an edge should get you comped if you play high and/or a lot. You can always have a chat with the pit boss if you feel your donations are not appreciated.

It depends on how much you are playing. Obviously $5 a hand won't net you as much gain as $25 a hand.
The funny thing is that they don't keep track of what game you are playing just how much you are playing per hand. I also make sure to buy in for at least $500 everytime because i've been told by a pit boss that that also plays a factor on comps besides how long you have been playing and bet amount.
Also make sure you give them your playing card as soon as you sit down!

Looking at driving to LA on the holiday Saturday in Feb. I've heard horror stories about making that trek, but I'm thinking the Saturday morning of a long weekend all the traffic should be going towards Las Vegas. Any experience?
Just did it last weekend, it was no big deal at all. I left Friday morning, and did Vegas to Hollywood in about 4.5 hours. I left Friday night around 10 PM, and made the Hollywood to Vegas leg in the same time. There was hardly any traffic heading to Vegas at that time of night.

Comps are based on your pay and buyin. when you do buyin at a table make sure you always use cash, even if you have the chips. Put the chips in your "do not touch" pocket and use the cash as they are worth more in comps then buyin in with chips.
Also when you are at the tables it also depends on how closely the pit boss is watching. Some of them are lazy and never keep track of your play, while others are great. I have found out from a dealer that MGM players cards have a higher initial bet to register any sort of worthwhile comp. Where as total rewards cards (ceaser's/harrah's) $5 bets are just fine. I'm guessing it has to do with the class of hotels.
Also Philly, think about your $10-15 craps playing. Are you only play the passline? You probably have a lot more than $25 bucks out on the table so really you're betting quite a bit more than you probably would at blackjack. I love craps too, but heck on a $5 table it is very easy to get $75 out there in a hurry.

Hmm, some good tips in there on comps. I usually play $10-25/hand (I was told by one of the pit bosses that they won't register your play below $10). I'll try buying in for more initially and pocket some.
I thought maybe I was playing at too many different casinos, but last time went down there with a buddy who played virtually identical to me, and he ended up getting 3 nights free. Maybe he snuck off somewhere and played slots when I wasn't watching....

Slots have the crappiest comps unless you max bet, in which case you can lose a shat load in minimal time. If you are jumping from casino to casino it's gonna get hard to get your comps as well too. Even though you may have a total rewards, which Harrahs and Ceasars use, you are better served to stay at one place and play for longer.
I find TI gives me great comps where as with the Palazzo and Grazie I can play the same amount for the same time span and get the crappiest Comps ever (60 dollar free slot play and rooms for 129 a night)

Anyone done Vegas for Super Bowl? I'm doing it this year and am looking for a decent spot to watch the game.
I did it 2 years ago. Was more of a coincidence really as someone was getting married during that time. Can't even tell you which teams were in the final. Pittsburgh beat someone I believe. Yeah I really don't follow football at all but I will say the experience was awesome. The town is alive and comes together I would say. I just watched it at The Mirage sports book but I'm sure any decent sports book would be awesome...or sports lounge. Uhhh whatever.
Lots of cheering and excitement. I would say there's more excitment during March Madness and when all the NCAA bowl games are on. Again, just coincidence that I was there durnig those times.
Thinking of going near the end of February with a group of 5 or 6.
What would you guys suggest for rooms? Are there nice suites that can accommodate 5 or 6 people at say Aria or Caesar's? Would it be better to just get 2 or 3 adjoining rooms at a cheaper hotel?
I've played it at Bally's, Harrah's, and Paris. It was the only card game my buddy and I could get our wives into. The whole time I kept thinking about the shady casino in Vegas Vacation. I could have gotten into it if it wasn't for the atrocious house edge when you go to 'war'.
I think War is fairly common, I think I saw it at every casino I spent time in last week. Palazzo, Mandalay Bay, O'Shea's. I was also amazed they had beer pong at O'Shea's.
