It really is. Thank god it has become very uncool to smoke with young people now, back when I was a teen the peer pressure was ridiculous.

-Who gives a crap what other think about you. It literally does not matter.
-You can whine and be upset about how miserable your life is. Or, you can do something about it.
-If you really want to do something bad enough, you'll find a way to make it happen regardless of what you may think will hold you back.
-You don't live to work, you work to live
-If you live a monotonous life where you do the same routine everyday, your life will fly by. Set goals and have things to look foward to.

When one of your parents die you take on a dramaticly different view of life. If you're not living life to it's fullest then you better start doing it. Nobody knows when we are going to die so it would be nice to have no regrets when we are on our death bed.

Don't take loved ones for granted, because they won't be around forever.

Also, there is no such thing as a "perfect time" to have kids. When you want them, have them.

I learned there are no save-points in life. I can't do anything and decide to change my ways or go back for a do again and be a super sexy healthy dude. Too much sugar intake, day in and day out, for years, and now I have diabetes and to go along with diabetes I have nerve problems in my feet, and one of my eyes.

Treat your body like it is your only body because it is. Since that time I have learned that eating healthy is not boring, that pop, slurpees and any sugary drinks or high carb foods are not essential to having a tasty meal or snack.

When trying to understand people, remember you don't know what they are dealing with under the surface.

I've learned over the years that all the strife in my life has made me a stronger person. I look at every bad thing and try to look for the positives and how it will make me a stronger person both in character and esteem.

Never take people for granted. If you have disputes they need to be settled and not put off for another day. You can't say sorry when a person is dead.

Don't order the lobster skillet at a Calgary pub. Learned that one 2 nights ago. The hard way.

If you live in Canada, you have it pretty damn good. Don't believe me? Go turn on CNN, Fox or some other 24 hour news station.

Appreciate that you live in Canada.

This is probably one of the most important things you can learn in life and sadly one that the majority of people fail to learn/understand.

I find people in general (even those that are empathetic and caring towards friends/family) lack empathy for strangers/coworkers. It really shows in everyday life.

"Why can't you get my damn order right? What does it take? I ordered a LARGE drink, you look like you don't even care...blah blah blah"

* cashier just lost her mom to cancer, but can't afford to stop working

The older you get the more you realize that so many people have such terrible things going on, but still go out and live a normal life, because that's all you can do. And people in general are just so ****ty/uncaring towards eachother.

Enjoy... nay, savor every second you have with your kids when they're young. Even when they don't stop crying for 6 freaking months after being born.

“So many people walk around with a meaningless life. They seem half-asleep, even when they're busy doing things they think are important. This is because they're chasing the wrong things. The way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning.”
