Amazing Race - Season 25

wow, first time we've missed this in years and no banter! Moved the show to Friday night and started in NYC. That should kill the show if nothing else did in the past.

There will be three locations that have never been featured on The Race — St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; Valletta, Malta; and Shetland Islands, Scotland — as well as a new element called "The Save," which one team can use to rescue themselves if they come last on a leg, and face elimination.

The Dentists won the first leg and the "Save" so that should help them immensely. Funny how they kept putting the sparkly flash on their teeth every time the camera panned on them and the blonde realtors from Miami got knockered out...too bad was fun watching them writhe around on the beach.

The teams are:

1. Misti and Jim Raman - Married Dentists from Columbia, South Carolina (Prize: "The Save" - prevents elimination before the end of the race's Leg 9)
2. Tim Tsao and Te Jay McGrath - College Sweethearts from Pasadena, California
3. Kym Perfetto and Alli Forsythe - Urban Bike Racers from Brooklyn, New York
4. Brooke Adams and Robbie E. Strauss - Dating Pro Wrestlers from Houston, Texas and Woodbridge, New Jersey
5. Bethany Hamilton and Adam Dirks - Married Surfers from Princeville, Hawaii
6. Amy DeJong and Maya Warren - Food Scientists from Madison, Wisconsin
7. Isabelle Du and Dennis Hour - Model and Accountant from Tustin, California
8. Shelley and Nici Porter - Mother/Daughter from Detroit, Michigan
9. Keith Tollefson and Whitney Duncan - Engaged Couple and former "Survivor: South Pacific" contestants from Nashville, Tennessee
10. Michael Ward and Scott Strazzullo - Firefighters from Boston, Massachusetts
11. Lisa Thomson and Michelle Thomson - Realtor Sisters from Miami, Florida (Eliminated)

Those realtor sisters from Miami were ridiculous. Turns out their looks didn't help them win after all. I also like how the show had to blur out her gitch on the beach in her bikini.

I never get why when the teams that make the pact to take the time penalty together, why the team that knows that they are then in last place (such as the realtors) why they don't turn around and go search in the sand for another 4 hours. You know you will be eliminated if you don't - so what's stopping them? Or do they already take their time penalty to get the next clue, and they can't reverse it by finishing the task?

We like to watch Amazing Race with our kids, and our 7 year old daughter has a habit of picking the token "cute blond" team to cheer for every season. So, as soon as they are introduced and my daughter says "I'm cheering for them", we pause the show and have a "don't judg a book by it's cover" talk. Sure enough the realtors get into the stealing the pen out of the firefighter's hands and being a non likeable team in general.

I understand why teams that want to quit on a task have make a pact....taking a 4 hour penalty requires you to have everyone on board. What I don't get is why people don't break the pact or why they can so easily get multiple teams to agree.

In this case what I really don't understand is how they thought they stood a hope in hell of winning a foot race to the mat. I said to my wife while I was watching "if it actually comes down to a foot race they are hooped". And they were. They got their just comeuppance for knocking the pen of the firefighters away earlier in the leg.

If I spent almost 4 hours digging sand and haven't found my "treasure", I'd be exhausted and want to quit. Even if I was up against a team that is physically more gifted, I'd still take a shot at that.

What makes me think I will be able to find it in the next 4 hours? I'd feel defeated.

Episode 2 brings out the whiners...damn I cant stand Racers who whine and cry.
Good challenges and episode...hate the Friday night change.

Those two teams in last place were walking to finish. Talking about how bad they want it, yet walking to the finish knowing they could be eliminated.

And a grown woman couldn't hold her bladder and had to piss in the stream?

Those 2 teams should both be banished. Women who cry like that are the Bain of my existence.

Is anyone else still watching this? Just have to say that Bethany is amazing...the challenges she can get through with just one arm astounds me.

Yeah she is an amazing woman! Challenges are a bit better this year, but contestants are poor overall.

Yeah it's a pretty bland season as far as the contestants go.

maybe its the artificial tanning and the muscular built--all the protein shakes.....

i wouldn't want him to do my teeth, thats for sure. doesn't seem to be nice person

yup he is odd for sure....they both seem pretty driven...to the extreme.

Pretty ho-hum season so far. Dentists and Biker girls running away with it and the challenges just aren't... challenging.

The wrestlers are incredibly stupid people. The surfers are doing well (Bethany is a force considering she only has 1 arm).

Pretty easy to cheer for Bethany's team.

Not sure who else I would cheer for otherwise. Perhaps the scientists.
