there were a few college UFAs who signed last year (JT Brown and Torey Krug come to mind) who played less than 10 games, but still burned the first year of their ELC.
What was the rule that governed that situation?

As a fan of ECAC hockey, I'm very much looking forward to the final on Saturday.
I think Keith Allain is one of the best coaches in Division I. Maybe one of the best in all of hockey. I was reconsidering that assessment after Yale was completely shut out in two games during ECAC Championship weekend, but this team looks vastly different now with amazing poise and composure (especially in OT). And after beating three of the toughest teams in the tournament (Minnesota, North Dakota, and UMass-Lowell), I don't see them being intimidated by Qunnipiac, even if they have already lost to them three other times this year.
From the "ECAC Blog" on USCHO:
Quote:
• It’s been said before, and I’ll say it again until it stops being amazing and hilarious: The NCAA National Championship game is a rematch of the ECAC Hockey Consolation Game. The freakin’ third-place game!

Hanowski goes straight to the Heat if he signs soon and doesn't necessarily play all the games. So he may not burn a year off his ELC.

That's only for players who sign their contract at the age of 18 or 19 (if you sign at 18, you get 2 years of slide; if you sign at 19, you get one year). Once you're over the age of 20, the clock starts ticking on your contract.
Turner Elson spent the entire season in Red Deer but this was still the first year of his ELC because he was 20 on September 15 (his birthday is September 13).

I think so... Calgary has 9 left though. If you're looking for an incentive to sign if they'll put you with the big club (even if just as a healthy scratch) you're looking at $45K or so.

Really hoping that Flames sign Laganiere. He looked really dangerous all game vs UMas Lowell. Great size, great hands and decent speed.
Also, really not trying to be funny here - but Obuchowski looked pretty good that game. Undrafted freshman at Yale - though he is 20 years old. A guy I hope the Flames keep their eye on.

Are the Flames in the running for Laganiere? I've heard the Canucks might be the favorites to land him. Although with Agostini on the Flames now that might change.

who knows ... there haven't been many rumours I think. Laganiere attended the Canucks camp last year, that might give them an advantage ... but not always. For example, Drew Leblanc attended the Wild camp last year and still signed with the Hawks.
I sure hope the Flames are trying to sign Laganiere ... in fact, I'd be extremely disappointed if they didn't.

Is this game available on TV in Canada?

the teammate connection gets overblown IMO. maybe it gives them a chance if they never had one to start with, but thats about it. I think saying they will give Hanowski games in the NHL will help them more to sign Laganiere than being teammates with Agostino.

CBC probably won't allow any hockey to be watched on TSN on Saturday night.

I see golf on TSN2.
I'd like to watch it. Yale's goalie is from Lethbridge and played little league with my son.

Crap!
I searched for the game and was so happy that I found it that I didn't even notice that it was scheduled for Monday. Oh well.
I should have known better - no way that CBC would allow TSN to have hockey on a Saturday night

Yale has 11 shots. Agostino has 3 of them. He's playing we'll, but Yale goalie Jeff Malcolm is the star of the show so far.

Quinnipiac is carrying the play. Only the Agostino/Miller line has had any opportunities at full strength. Still 0-0 middle of the second.
