I thought it was FLA that Diss was referring to there, but I suppose you could argue it's the same situation where BOS may hold out to try and sign him in the summer.

In your case, it's the same thing. You make things up so you can be negative about them.

Not this #### again. GTFO if you don't like it. You literally bring every thread down with this troll BS. Life's too short, go find something you enjoy doing that isn't bringing everyone else down with you.

A bunch of whiners saying Conroy needs to get things done now and not wait until the deadline. Another bunch saying he should have held out on the Tanev deal.
EDIT: FlamesAddiction beat me to it.

Seravelli mentioned LA for hanifin. They could be a solid landing spot for him right now.
They could definitely use a top 4 D upgrade and could afford to push one of Gravikov, Roy or Andersson down.
They're one or the few interested teams that might offer us a younger center with upside in Turcotte.
Arthur Kaliyev has also been rumored to be wanting out and is a really interesting young piece.
They have all their upcoming 1sts.
I would be happy with a 1st+turcotte package

We have the best available defenseman this deadline, and he’s a 27 year old first pairing player who never misses games.
The price is whatever Conroy says it is.

If you're 100% committed to trading a player
And your expected return is entirely picks and prospects
And you'd trade him today if the right offer came along
It really makes no sense to put the player in the lineup.
Like with Tanev, I'd have been fine with waiting it out for another few days. But certainly given the return on the table, you wouldn't have played him.

This is why when there is a generational draft like last year, you never want to wave it off as just an ordinary draft year. This is pretty much Flames Murphy's Law in effect.

Off season big salary / QO for big salary is different than a cheap expiring contract.
Any team that knows Hanifin is willing to sign can balk at Conny’s ask and sign him for nothing

But then they lose the 8 year deal advantage...Hanifin will likely sign with the team he goes to
St. Louis was going to get Tkachuk for nothing
Montreal was getting Huberdeau for nothing
remember
For the Panthers/Lightning either pay up or your rival has him for the next 8 years for example

Nah. Tkachuk loves home but he will take the Florida Panthers to their first cup before that.

The Hanifin deal is complicated or can be complicated as Lebrun says, as even teams fully interested have to deal moving parts like re siging, retention, NMC's, and a commitment for a long term deal. Other teams (or even the same teams) also waiting to see if he is just going to go as a rental.
My guess is the price is set for teams as a rental, it's trying to see in the next week if Hanifin and another team can come to terms on a long term deal.
I still maintain that the same deal from Dallas, and IMO a better one (let's says a guaranteed 2nd pick or upgraded prospect or maybe less retained) would still be there this time next week.
Understanding from both sides is that it's a pure rental.
Tanev wasn't competing with anyone else, a class of his own and players like that don't become available often ...each playoff team would love to have him, and other options such as Hamonic etc are a full step or two below what you're getting with a consumate pro like Tanev, so Dallas if interested didn't have much of an option B and wasnt kicking tires and just going to walk away.
Wrap Tanev in bubble wrap and don't have him play, etc etc until next Friday, but teams caught up in a last minute FOMO frenzy or trying to match a rival late next week would bump up the overall asking price IMO for a pure rental.

Another factor in Hanifin’s value is RHD are more sought-after than LHD. That’s a big reason why more teams were in on Tanev. If you look at the rosters of a lot of playoff teams, their top-3 dmen in quality and in salary are LHD, LHD, RHD.
So fitting in an $8 mil LHD long-term is problematic. Do you bump a guy you’re already paying $5-6 mil to the 3rd pairing? Play someone on their off side? Modern coaches hate that.

I mean that's what Blues fans were saying "why trade for him when we can get him free"
It not happening is exactly my point. Whoever trades for Hanifin will almost certainly sign him.

Yes, I wished the same for Tanev. That ship has sailed. For whatever reason, they feel it better to go to free agency.
So be it. If you're not re-signing, that's OK, you will be shipped out. Asset management.
Good luck and take care!!!

I am just saying take the condition out as a fan. Yes, Boston wants to hold onto their young assets from what I have heard and if Hanifin hits the market in the summer they will try to sign him then. That is what I said. I suppose if his value is really low where they could get him cheaper than expected maybe they make a deal but it won't be for the pieces mentioned where I said take the condition out. At least not from what I have heard.
