Default AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson ordered to quit touring

Awful news. One of my favourite people in the music world. He risks total hearing loss if he does any more shows. I've seen them perform in every tour they've done the last 30 years. Happy retirement, sir!!

Damn no way

Saw them in Edmonton in the cold rain...and they still rocked the building hard.

Saw them four times this tour (including Valentine's Day in St. Paul). They are still as good as ever.

I don't think this is retirement for Brian or the band ABSOLUTELY.

It's more of a take some time off and see if things are any better.

That said, I would be surprised to see them back with Brian singing. It sounds like a guest vocalist may be planned to finish the rest of the US shows.

Ears don't magically heal. Brian is done as a touring musician.

I doubt there's any getting better. He's done,

Can it be Juice Newton?

Brian's ear damage is from race car driving, and not the music, oddly enough.

Pete Townshend’s struggles with hearing loss: A musician’s risk

https://accuquest.com/why-accuquest/...musicians-risk

Yet, the British rocker doesn't blame his years of destroying instruments and performing in clubs as the cause of his hearing loss. Instead, Townshend cites his years spent listening to headphones in the studio.

"It may only be studio earphones that cause bad damage," Townhend said on the Steve Hoffman Music Forums. "I only have long experience of the studio side of things (though I've listened to music for pleasure on earphones for years, long before the Walkman was introduced). But my intuition tells me there is terrible trouble [for audiophiles] ahead."

Townshend must now take 36-hour breaks between sessions in the studio for his hearing to recover.

A German study found that musicians are up to four times as likely to experience hearing loss than any other group of people. Evidence of this truth is borne out in the lives of many musicians. While Pete Townshend's public concerns on the issues have made him a prime example, he is joined by legendary musicians, including Neil Young, Brian Wilson, Ozzy Osbourne, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton and Phil Collins.

It's pretty sad how band mates can turn on each other like this. While this isn't Eddy Van Halen greasy, I can only assume that Young was looking for an excuse to move on from Jones who is aging and can't sing like he used to.

Atlanta Radio 100.5 DJ Jason Bailey reported yesterday on his show, as transcribed by Alternative Nation, that a ‘very very good source’ is telling him that Axl Rose will indeed be joining AC/DC to front the band for the remainder of their tour. Alternative Nation first reported rumors of Rose touring with AC/DC on Monday.

Ugh. Couldn't they have found someone relatively young and not a dick head?

The way i've read this is Axel is joining them for 6 shows to finish up the tour. Not leaving GNR, doubt it'll change anything.
