Default Shaw Direct (Starchoice) New HDPVR Coming out in September

Hopefully not a fata, did a search but didn't see anything about it. Anyway, just pre-ordered one of these things. Looks like they are finally going to have a PVR that is on par with the Bell, maybe even more advanced as it is 3d ready. I've been waiting for this for over a year when I was first told that Shaw Direct employees were testing these out. Decent price too.

Bell is already broadcasting in 3D.

Looks like the current "new" Motorola model for their cable HD customers.

I have that one and I think it's great. No UHF remote though.

Full-time?

Shaw (cable) has had special 3D broadcasts for the Masters and the World Cup.

Yeah, the SC guide has always been pretty ugly. I don't like Bell, but the guide on their HDPVR is the best in Canada.

not sure if it's the same, as supposedly these aren't available until September. However that could be just for the starchoice customers, as it seems the regular Shaw customers get things ahead of the SC division. I know my parents PVR's have kicked the crap out of my motorola 530 features-wise (not in reliability though, as they are on their 4th in around a year, I'm on the same one I got ~2 years ago) and I couldn't understand why I couldn't have the same features in my PVR.

This is the one Shaw is currently renting/selling. I think it's a lot better than the old ones.

500GB is tiny though, although I guess I could just hook up an external HDD through esata.

Yeah, channel 1933 is running full time. So far I haven't seen any special broadcasts though, just scenic videos. I don't have a 3D TV so I haven't been watching it much to see if any live programs have been offered yet.

When they start offering hockey games in 3D, I'll start to seriously look at getting a new TV.
