Just speculation that the Devils could embrace a rebuild and move him, but no solid rumours that I've heard

I think find a #1 on a 3 year deal and have Gillies backup. Leaves Parsons to tandem in the minors and gives a chance for Gillies to step up

For those of you suggesting Elliott to Dallas (E4), where do you fit Lehtonen and Niemi in this scenario? Vegas won't touch either IMO.

You have to figure this week cost Elliott $10 Million.
It's reasonable to believe Cgy would have offered at least $4 Million per year over 3 years.
Now he'll be lucky to get $2 Million to be a backup

Buyout if they can't move one of them. Can see someone taking on Niemi as a backup if Dallas picks up some of the contract. Heck, maybe we send bouma their way and get niemi back at half retained.

Even at 2.25 mil Niemi would be overpaid. He put up worse numbers this season than Johnson and Elliott.

Easily a yes. He had one good stretch that everybody overrates, but to me it was carried by the 2 top lines and a new rejuvenated defense core. I always knew he was susceptible to bad goals especially with that leaky glove hand of his. Guy literally cost himself millions and millions in just 1 week of poor play.

Between the start to the season and the dismal playoffs I'd elect to move on.
He was good on the streak, but the start and finish to the season were abysmal.

Flames seem to emit some sort of goalie curse.

The franchise has to move on from Elliot. I'm glad he wasn't signed during the sudden stretch where he had great numbers.

Easy idea.
Trade 17th overall for Grubauer or Pickard or some similar goalie.
Gillies backs them up.
Save cap, and get a tandem that will likely be better than what Elliott and Johnson brought.

As much as this may not be a great draft, I think the Flames have already traded too many picks to give up their first for a shot in the dark. Cam Talbot went for less.

No need to spend any more picks or assets on goaltenders. Tyler Parsons looks like the real deal and I think he could be as ready as 2019 to take at the very least a 1A role for this team.

Lets see Tre work his magic. Get a Martin Jones type of goalie. Current back up but on the cusp of becoming a starter.
Those softies cost the flames the series.

I would take him back for cheap as a mentor role for Gillies. But that is it

That's kind of the dagger on his future as a Flame. Even if he would accept a one year show me deal it's probably not worth sending the Blues another pick.
