Just glanced at the series thread on HF and man some butthurt going on in there. Oilers fans pulling out the 80's 5 cups and the Sharks being close to a rebuild.

Meh. They have handled things much better than Flames fans over the playoffs. Much better.

Wondering how to approach this with my Oiler fan boss.

Yesterday morning after our debacle he said "So, I only saw the first and second period of the game, Flames were looking pretty good. How was the 3rd?" Yeah, right.

You obviously didn't wade into the post game thread on this site after the most recent Flames loss. Not much different.

The biggest thing with me with Oiler fans especially on HF is they've had a grand old time laughing at Flames fans and casting them in the same light in terms of officials. We're whiners and criers when it comes to the reffing (And to an extent we have out moments)

then right after the loss the hfoiler community goes into hulk rage about the officiating and its a grand conspiracy by the NHL to hold the NHL's modern version of the 80's Oilers down.

Frankly watching that game last night the parts of it saw, Connor Mcspazz was certainly playing the role of spoiled brat, I'm not getting my own way. to a tee.

I know what to expect so I don't go deep, it's true.

I admire the passion but a lot of it is way over the top, and honestly, the same goes for the oilers fans.

I've lived in Edmonton for 18 years and I can tell you they are the most rabid and loyal fans I've ever seen...but a lot of them are completely deluded about what they actually are.

The local media doesn't help, it's embarrassing how unprofessional and biased they are sometimes.

The arrogance has followed them around since the 80's. It's the reason many of us will never, ever cheer for anything good to happen to the franchise. Even during their NHL record ten year absence from the playoffs they were incredibly arrogant at times fawning over their embarrassment of riches in Hall, Eberle, RNH, Yakupov, etc. As for complaining about the officiating it's nearly impossible to visit the fan forum of any team and find fans that aren't complaining given how poor NHL officiating has been across the board in the playoffs. It's pretty clear the NHL doesn't have enough quality officials to handle the eight series of the first round.
