Default Wireless Network Help Needed

I dont know the first thing about this subject and I am lacking sleep and food so I am not too good with the brain right now to research this properly.

I just moved into a house and the place where I want my computer has no coaxial for the internet. I am buying a wireless router as i have a few other things to connect online.

Is there a way to connect my modem to any cable jack in the house without having it near my PC (for the ethernet connection)? Is that what a wireless network adapter does?

Gawd, im so tired. Thanks for helping...

You need to setup a wireless router and connect it to your modem. Your computer will need to have a wireless card, and then it can connect to the router.

This thread has alot of good router suggestions.

to try this a different way...

plug your shaw modem into the tv cable outlet. plug your wireless router into the modem. you should be good to go.

yes, you should be able to plug your shaw modem into any cable outlet.

while i am not 100% sure about telus...i believe that adsl uses the spare capacity of the phone jack as well.

only one way to find out though...try it!
