Default Apple Store: Lightning Port to Micro-USB

Interesting.

Two questions
-Why is this interesting?
-Why does an adapter deserve its own thread?

I don't understand what the big fuss is with lightning port is. It's reversible and possibly a bit more durable (not that I've ever broken off a single micro-USB connecter ever), that's it. micro-USB you can multiplex in both audio and video into a single connector micro-USB connector (MHL) and is already being done on other phones for years. Only difference the connector isn't reversible, but I can live with that given the cables and adapters don't cost me more than $5.

Definitely does not deserve it's own thread.

With all the Apple enthusiasts out there this thread will probably hit 30 pages.

You guys are right, I could've just posted this in each of the 8 different iOS-related threads, so that people who were wanting something like this would know about it, and in-so-doing bumping each of the threads to the top of the Tech forum.

...but I didn't feel like it. (Such a travesty, I know.)

.)
No, you could have posted it in the one iPhone 5 thread where it was relevant, instead of creating a 9th thread.

On topic. Again, how is this interesting?

I assume this is the adapter that Apple needed to make in order to comply with EU laws? I'm not sure I really see the point in it other than for that. I can't envision a scenario where someone is going to be in a situation where they don't have a Lightning cable, but they are packing around an adapter so they can use a Micro USB cable.

It's pretty big for those who own apple devices and want more flexibility with peripherals.

Yeah, it's been available there since the start, just here starting now.

They priced it the same as a lightning cable itself so no savings for just getting the adapter.

If Apple Maps sucking deserved its own thread, even when the problem was the user not knowing how to use GPS, I don't see an issue with another thread driving home how Apple is milking its customers for a few extra bucks.

Yeah because we have to conserve threads for the big topics like cul-de-sac parking or nasal decongestant..

get a grip..it'll fall off the front page quickly enough.
