Icon20 Chara out at least 4-6 weeks. May need surgery

Aaron Ward @TSNAaronWard
Bruins Zdeno Chara suspected left knee ligament injury.Expected out 4-6 weeks at which time they'll evaluate need for surgery or not. #TSN

some speculation that this collision with Tavares caused it:

Boston has been below average so far this year. Obviously not having Chara is gonna hurt that much more. I bet they wish they still had Boychuk now.

Well, isn't this quite the year for the Bruins to suck.

It appears to be a bad year for injuries to big name players:

Heatley
Savard
Chara
Staal (both of them)
Skinner (back now)
Crawford
Varlamov
Horton
Peverley
Gonchar
Franzen
Grabner
Grabovski
Harmonic
Stepan
Boyle
Pronger
Timonen
Lecavalier
Hedman
Evander Kane

Weird list to have Pronger and Savard on.

I like that Heatley is still considered to be a big name player, it sucks that he's hurt but I just hope the Heatley twitter account is ok.

You said it was a bad year for injuries - I'd argue that that those players havent gotten injured this year.

That is true. Their injuries occurred in previous years.

If the Bruins run as an elite team is over, that Seguin trade they made looks worse and worse. They traded him for chemistry reasons like his punk ways were somehow going to ruin the team instead of giving him a year or two to grow up and have an elite centre for the next 15 years.

^ Not only am I sure we don't have all the details to make such a profound judgement, it's easy now to look back and see that trade as a mistake.

At the time, how is it guaranteed that Seguin's "behavioural issues" (if there were any?) would:

a) go away
b) fit with the culture they're trying to shape aka impact other young players
c) he would become as elite as he has

Some players do party away their future and potential, actually.
